In this video I show how I made a Gustav Stickley designed mantel clock. I found the original plans in a December 1905 issue of Craftsman magazine that was edited and published by Gustav Stickley. I'll put a link to that resource below. Call it mission, arts & crafts, craftsman or Stickley I find that this style of furniture and accessories fits well into any home decor. Quartersawn white oak is the wood of choice as it would have been for Mr. Stickley. I updated the movement and replaced the pendulum opening with a piece of art time that I obtained from Motawi Tile Works. I'll put a link below to their website. The Stickley Museum at Craftsman Farms is located in Morris Plains, NJ. If you're in the area it is worth a visit. I'll put the link to their website below as well.
This was a fun and useful project. I hope that you enjoyed the video. Comments are always welcome.

Thanks for this great video. I'm building a craftsman style wall clock w/a wider top and angles of 10 degrees. Wasn't sure how to cut angles on the top until I saw you set up the clamps on the fence of you table saw. Thanks again.

I liked this project very much! Beautiful clock! I made Norm Abrams version of a shaker wall clock a few years ago. It was fun. They sell the movements with different length shafts. The drilling the recess was a good idea though! I also did the same thing on my clock hand after trimming it. (Using the sharpie to color it!) I love this style and it was already on my to do list but you make it more compelling to do it soon! Chris

Chris Pine Thanks Chris. I took a guess on what I needed for a movement and came up a bit short. I didn't want to wait to reorder a movement so I improvised. It worked out okay in the end. I have a shaker wall clock on my to-do list as well. I enjoyed watching Norm make his which was walnut if I remember correctly. Thanks for watching and for the comments. Take care. Steve

You've got to love this old magazines and books with crafts and projects suggestion and tutorials... Very very fine work, I love the ammonia finish you were able to replicate with dye, I've been meaning to try out some ammonia darkening, a very common wood here where I live is Holm Oak which is very stable and very bright (unless it's spalted) and clean, so if there is a good choice of wood to try this on, that is the one. Thanks for sharing your project!! Yuval.

Yuval Lahav Thank you for the comments Yuval. I was tempted to try ammonia fuming with this piece but didn't want to deal with the ammonia after I was finished. I might still give it a try one day. If you decide to fume a piece please post a video or pictures. I very much enjoy your videos and your work. Take care, Steve

Absolutely love this video/build. Watched many times in the past few days. Is the clock face also from klockit? I'd also be interested in which movement and hands you chose. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, yaknow. :)

+Timothy Baker Timothy - Sorry for the confusion. The clock is shown in article listed in the table of contents as Home Training in Cabinet Work. Here's a link that hopefully will take you straight to the pages with the clock. If it doesn't work for some reason let me know.
