If we're considering triggers...those who watched One piece might have reached the scene where Brook saw a pod of whales and started losing his cool, half sobbing, half singing binks sake...I wonder if something similar happened but, the pod was being hunted...or they were already dead, and considering his usual crew understands his reason why...these guys might not, and there might be a different kind of break down...could Lewis or Sans understand that mental instability and lend Brook a boney hand back to reality? Because Brook saw dimes a dozen in hallucinations of his previous crew, so an illusion won't quite do it.
