I am friends with a blue jay I call Jay. I keep his water bowl fresh and leave him peanuts. He lets me know when he arrives and I always walk out and say, "Hey, Jay! I left some peanuts for ya." We interact almost daily.

Btw, I know this was 4yrs ago, but now there are several people on youtube that are communicating with their pets (cats and dogs) via buttons. It's amazing and wonderful. Clearly showing that animals do think and feel (of course). Billi Speaks is one of those popular channels (a cat that asks to go outside, asks for food, acknowledges when it's raining, her desire for "pets" and even the person she wants pets from, etc).

Went for another walk & run in the woods and along the beach today, this one a bit longer at around 50K / 30 mi. Very lovely day for it for sure 58-59F/14-15C, light breeze, and full sun. Relaxed in my hammock along the shore too, during the start of the tide coming back in/up. One of my musings for the day: I wonder how much dog, or pet, owners would like, or dislike, it if they were treated the way they treat their own dogs, or pets. Another: If dogs could talk human, how many of their owners would listen, and care? and how many would not, and not care? These musings after watching a lady "walking" her dog, not letting it stop and smell as dogs love to do, not letting it stop for a bathroom break, not letting it enjoy even a second of it's time outside, only scolding it, and tugging and pulling it along... The dog was very clearly sad and not enjoying it at all, and I felt bad for it... the lady walking her dog, also not enjoying it... I do hope you're having a great weekend where you're at,

we share a lot of the same musings, what would the forest tell me "if" I could hear her? She welcomes me, she knows I know and respect, she's happy I "am there", she allows and thanks me for being here, being open, seeing, hearing, loving, being thankful and a humble small part, and more... what do I tell the forest? Thank you for everything, thank you for allowing me, to the animals - hi :-), sometimes we chat, I tell them "I'm not a threat to you - but they already know:, and more... "if cats could speak human they probably wouldn't bother" LOL! Perhaps what one "wild" thing did I do today? lol... one? I left my house early in the just below freezing temps and headed to some local woods I know pretty well. I smiled at squirrels and birds. A crow showed me her nest - she's tending it (this was later in the day on the walk out - maybe 13 miles walked/ran total). I had dogs tell me they'd much rather walk with me, I agreed. As I relaxed in my hammock for a bit, I listened to the frogs singing their hearts out in the fresh water ponds hidden in the woods, in the late winter chill; I was happy to hear all the different voices and a little surprised too, what with the low temps. I was again surprised at how many people walked within M&M throwing distance from me and never looked at me, or saw me - yet the birds and squirrels all knew, even the large bird of prey circling way, way up in the sky. A seagull was a little nervous of me as I walked by it on the edge of the woods, in the sand at the waters edge. I discovered otter's tracks and slides, I "saw" what they'd done, where they'd been, how the stood, played, swam, and 'galloped', ... I walked and I ran and I was thankful and happy and it was a beautiful day like the day before and before, ... Thank yo for all that you do Anna
