A Serious question? Why are you just forcing the old contaminated brake fluid back up into the master cylinder? I was always taught to evacuate the old fluid through the bleader especially if the system has ABS as the contamination could damage the ABS UNIT.
@OnlineMechanicTips
@OnlineMechanicTips Жыл бұрын
Why are you assuming this sys contaminated? This was a maybe 42K mile typical brake job. Yes, if the sys was old and had a gazillion miles and was actually contaminated, what you saying make sense. But for the record, I never open bleeder screws when pushing in pistons on a brake job. If my goal is to clean the sys, we have a service and a machine to help accomplish that.
@craigtimmons3468

Or you do it the real old-school way use a big prybar midgrade or a big screwdriver get behind the pad compress both pistons and you don’t have to take the caliper off and then put the tool in there. The piston Cerati collapsed. That’s a old school technician way. Or you use the sea clamp parach of Chanlocks but these new technicians out said we’re doing it wrong been doing it longer. They even thought about doing this field get 20 years on this field and see how they feel a lot of times you have to use the old-school ways on this new garbage, but the old school technicians have to come in and fix the new school parts changers because they can’t fix the job. They just want to throw parts at well. The scanner said it was that no the scanner put you in a direction then you need to troubleshoot it from there but they don’t know how to troubleshoot. They got the eight ball in your toolbox And there is some technicians out there that’s been under the wing of a old school technician and taught right about the schools now they just teach them to throw parts at them in and there’s a difference between a technician and a mechanic does a lot of people know the difference there is a big difference

I’ve done a couple of dual piston calipers with the good ol pad and c clamp. Just gotta apply pressure to both sides evenly. This just looks like it’d save you 5 minutes at most. Cool nonetheless
@billm6730
@billm6730 Жыл бұрын
@@dennisdavila8874 The last one I did was on a Frontier. The only issue I had was the clamp didn’t have much to grab on the backside of the caliper to hold it straight. It worked, but if I had to do this often, I’d find a better way. Or at least a better clamp. Lol.

Putting an awful lot of force on that tool. And ya bottomed out the caliper. Two very good reasons that you probably will have a dragging/non functional caliper after your brake job. Give the shit that builds up in you caliper a place to be and the small amounts of rust won't fick you.

Your going way too fast with that pointless tool. Go slower or you will cause a caliper piston leak. They aren't designed to move that fast. You need to give the rubber o ring time to catch up.
