Hi 👋🏼 I'm Sara, a UK mum and Foster Carer based in a small English town near Liverpool.
I am a solo mum to my 17 year old son, an ex primary school teacher and childminder and in 2018 I became a Foster Parent.
I am a short term foster mum providing a warm, loving home for children in need.

Often as a social worker I won't have your phone number if I have to place in an emergency. I'm often giv3n 6our address last minute and there's a tonne of paperwork to complete and get signed. It's usually the day after placing a child that I can catch up a bit with a foster parent. But usually my priority after placing children is to arrange reviews and medicals, child protection case conferences and contact arrangements with family. Oh, nearly forgot, I also have to arrange a meeting with school, parents and Foster carers. Anyway, thank you for doing what you are doing. We always need good foster carers.

Just because they say 6:00 doesn't mean they're going to be there at 6 you have to take in consideration that these kids must be having a stressful time leaving their parents you also have to take into consideration that the caseworker might not be prepared or ready she might be still doing paperwork you have to take in the fact of the whole situation some kids might come at 3 in the morning some kids might come at 11 or 12 at night because it does happen it absolutely happens and the only thing that you can do is just be patient and have that phone ready make sure your in the living room where that door is because when they come they just come!

Thank you for the video, as someone who is going through assessment currently, this type of 'real life' video is absolutely perfect for me currently as a single carer. Would there be any way of doing a video at some point of the sort of paperwork/notes you have to keep please? Even if it is just how you time manage to get everything done or what sort of things you record (I know you can't share your notes, but what level of detail needed would be great) xx I think you do an amazing job with everything you have to juggle, I hope I can be as good a foster carer as you xx

This is the first of your videos that I just watched. Thank you! What was the age range of the children, please, and how long did they eventually stay? I'm returning to foster care soon - respite or emergency - maybe 8-12 year olds, as short to long term (independent and rarely at home) teens didn't really suit me. Thanks again. 🇦🇺 🦘
