Chopped cheese burgrs have been around forever in Central NJ. All the corner stores sold them. There was even a truck called the Boom Burger that was famous for them. Same concept, different names.

The plantain sandwich was created decades ago in Chicago. It's called a Jibarito here. Usually made with lechon or steak but made with everything now. Usually with a side of arroz con gandules
