A Memorial weekend with Doug. Over the years I have generally gone to graduation parties alone because the guys are in the field. So, this weekend has been nice even though the rain has prevented farming.
Deer damage to the hostas is at an all-time high this year. I am discouraged and disappointed so, perhaps moving forward, we should simply have a Dodge Garden ornament festival.
This weekend marks three years since our daughter (in-law) passed away. Nicole is missed. We are thankful for the memories. May you cherish the memories and honor your loved ones this weekend.

As always, a wonderful visit with Doug and Amy. I have a request for prayer. Last night here in Arkansas, we had severe weather and tornadoes. My home sustained major damage. I'm not to worried about the "stuff" I just hope the house is salvageable. I'm thankful the Lord protected me from injury, and I know that in all things, he is working for the good. I believe in the power of prayer, and I'm asking. Thank you, everyone.

Hard to believe Nikki has been gone 3 years. I loved her spirit & laughter & how she and Dougo joked with each other. I enjoy rewatching her videos. Hugs to you all. Memorial Day ceremony tomorrow at the cemetery & the PBS National Memorial Day concert tomorrow evening will be our day with a BBQ.

Glad you keep your daughter-in- law in your hearts still! Painful but just means she was/ still important and part of the family. When Doug said hen pecked I busted up laughing and then Amy:s expression was like assume. Love the Sunday visits and God bless you both! Take care!

R.I.P. Nicole God wanted his angel back i lost a brother last week even though I don't understand why he was taken at the age of 53 God's plan far exceeds anything we can imagine here prayers from south Texas Amy & Dougo especially Chet during this time also Jean Marie she has stepped up to the plate and they seem happy God is good ❤❤❤

We used a product called Skeds and it worked well and was rain resistant. The Hosta should come back. Thank you and God Bless one and all, especially dear sweet Nickie. Will be hard to let the pontoon boat go someday. Dugo so grumbles about it too. 😊

Amy, Mike and I love watching ...started with Larson farms,hooked on you with the organizing,devotions,love your honesty...we live on 10acres back in the woods we have deer cyotye, squirrel geese all the woodland creatures.. I love gardening vegetables and flowers, we found that an air tube man keeps the deer away....just a thought ...God's continual Blessings to you all...

The new motors for dodge aren't too bad. They have a 6 cylinder with a turbo. They look sharp. Id still stick with a Cummins if possible. I miss my first truck. It was a 1984 Dodge Ram D350. I miss it. Speaking of missing I'm like others I do miss seeing Nicole, but thankful for Chets wife. God bless you all.

I have a friend who saves her heavy duty metal coat hangers. She cuts them to stuck up between the hosta leaves. It pokes the deer in the nose and stops them from foraging. It takes about 5 pieces of wire sticking up to keep the plant protected. - i hope that might work for you. I was so sad seeing all the plants eaten to the ground.

Irish spring soap is a pretty good deer repellant. Cut the bar in quarters and put around your plants.

Amy I have a suggestion for Dougo on the wet spots in the fields. Try drone planting them as they dry out . We have experimented on circle fields out here and have a some success at it. Just an idea that might help . God bless and best wishes to you all

My friend put motion detector sprinklers around his garden. Keeps the deer out but not rabbits, squirrels etc.

I work at a Chrysler dealer, we just got the new 2025 Rams in with the twin turbo inline 6 cylinder. I guess well find out how they hold up compared to the hemi

Back when I was in high school, we reseeded the football we used hair from the Barber to wrap around the Parameter. And for some reason the deer and critters stayed away from it. Is god be with you and your family

You should get some Bobbex Deer repellent for your hostas. it works very well and it won’t wash off in the rain.

Even tho I live in the Southern hemisphere and never Nicole I was sadden for her passing. It's tough when someone so talented, so caring for other's, and family, so beautiful on the inside AND outside, so young and just on the cusp of starting her own family with Chet.............. Having to suffer and to be taken by such terrible disease. I still think of her and what might have been for her and Chet. I was happy for Chet to have found another girl to marry and be so happy for the both of them. Now we are just waiting for Chet to become a Dad and Doug & Amy grandparent's with grand kid's to spoil rotten :D DEER Damage is easy to stop, put a fence up around the house and/or Garden.

Deer and Hostas , When my wife was with us she would put out sticks in the ground with small rags on them with bleach or pepper sprinkled around . We both loved to deer hunt and having garlic venison summer sausage made seemed to help.

My parents used human hair spread around plant beds to keep deer away. You can usually get it at the barber shop or beauty parlor.

Hello I think that for your deer problem Amy you could look into a cattle style electric fence . Two or three stranded or electric goat and sheep fence. Have Chet order it on the farm web site. The gopher problem is different problem has to be dealt with gun or trap. Maybe a live trap.

Spray your flowers and plants with Raid bug spray and do it after it rains. Deer love Pa. flowers and hosta also. So sorry about Nicole.

You could try putting some canes in with your hostas to stop the dear rather than a fence round the whole garden.

Doug has sure taken great care of that 2005 Dodge Daytona GoMango. I had one of those cars, too, but the very next year in '06 they introduced the SuperBee, so I traded in my Daytona Gomango for the SuperBee. Hard to believe that's been 19 years ago now.

So long as you don't forget the memories and what she brought to your life Nikki will never be completely gone. But she is missed by many people. As far as your deer problem goes... the repellent spray is probably your best shot. You can also fill nylon stockings with hair and hang them in the garden. That seems to work for a while but eventually the deer get use to that. Otherwise you can have doug Wizz in the garden but if you plan to be working in the garden that gets kind of gross in my eyes.

Grate A bar of Irish spring and place the shavings around the plants. Animals and bugs hate the smell.

I gave up on trying to keep the deer out of my hostas. The only thing that seems to work are high fences.

You can set up a water sprinkler that is motion sensored and it keeps the deer away.

Dog hair in the flower garden works wonders for deer. Coyote and Wolfe work the best but gotta use what you can.

Get yourself some Bags of Moth Balls and crush them up and spread them out in the garden. You should be able to find them at your local hardware store

My father would drive T post around the garden and then string two levels of fishing line around the garden. They can smell the line but not see it and don't jump it. He would also put a strand of electric around the bottom to help keep out the raccoons.

High velocity lead is about the only way to have hostas with high deer pressure around. Or, fence off the plants to exclude the deer. Everything else is salad dressing.
