We had moved into a house years ago that had sat vacant for at least a year. The field mice had taken over residence. We thought we have to get a cat. And so we did. The cat would lie there and watch the mice run across the floor. 😂

I have a new Cavapoo puppy who watches television. She also listens to conversation and music. She immediately stopped playing and focused on the screen with the first chord of music in the Harmony Part. Then she watched as the snow fell until M appeared. Then she “talked” to M the entire time she was on the screen. I’ve never had a dog who watches tv like she does. She even senses the mood of the screen. Once there were several “dementor” looking figures on and she came running to be picked up she was so scared! She truly enjoyed all the Vlogmas and podcasts over the holidays. I so look forward to the Saturdays that follow your Friday episodes. My favorite days of the month! Happy New Year to all of you!🎉❤😊

This is my second time watching the episode from start to finish - I'm picking up where I left off 2 months ago. I remember when I first watched your gorgeous kitten mesmerized by the falling snowflakes in the Harmony part....the scene was so touching and the music was so moving that I started crying. You also had me laughing. Kim being a "collector of swear words" had me giggling, as did Betsy who feigned dismay and wanted no part of the swearing. I absolutely loved the spun yarn by Simone. I admire her humility, however, in admitting her struggles through the various stages. For us, it is all beautiful. Thank you for sharing! It is this very camaraderie that weaves its magic through every part of the podcast, entertaining us and enlightening us as the creative juices flow and take form of an utterly gorgeous PEI-themed blanket taking shape in the months to come, along with the individual projects unfolding. This podcast indeed launched great things for the coming year.

I loved watching the kitten chase the snowflakes. That was a wonderful episode with so much energy and ideas. Down the rabbit hole I go ... I will purchase Simone's hat pattern. I purchased the Knitting for Olive book from their site and there are a few patterns I would love to make including the tractor sweater for my grandson. Thank you for the enjoyment and Happy knitting!! As for mice, I lived in farmhouses growing up and once a mouse popped it's head out of the toaster lol

Great episode. Simone you are an inspiration with the January dip. Here in Owen Sound we do have the Polar Bear Dip, but even though I swim quite late into the season, I have not yet gone in in winter, And the mouse story reminded of the one you told a while back when you Kim, were at your cottage and thought your little niece had left you a sticky treat under the pillow and ate it 😄. The blanket project is a lovely idea! I dont have time to do it but it will be great to follow along and see your squares. And the Harmony of watching the little cat and the snowflakes was just what I needed to see. Thank you all. and I stopped eating Quality Street since Nestle took it over - first because it changed the over all taste and second I have tried to boycott Nestle for ever (especially now!). But really, why take such a great tradition for the Holidays and change it??? grr!

I was lucky enough to be gifted a box of Quality Street this Christmas and they were a real treat but they are certainly not the same as they used to be. And I love to eat the orange flavoured ones first. Thank you all for gifting us a Blanket KAL. Simone, I'm so interested that you ply better on the wheel...I ply much better on my Turkish spindle...it feels like I have more control over the twist. I need more practice on my wheel as I still have to rerun my skeins through the wheel to ply tighter on occasion. I've not tried it on a support spindle yet. Fluffy snow falling softly is always soooo magical!

Happy New Year! Paused and bought the hat pattern then enjoyed the rest of this lovely always episode. I don't know if it's because I knit continental but I've never minded doing colourwork in the flat. I see the knit rows as being where I keep an eye out for any pattern mistakes and the purls rows as where I can keep an eye on my floats. Loved watching Em watch the snow falling - as I sat here in New Zealand with a fan on and blinds pulled down to keep the sun off me as I knit... Very nice to hang out with you, thank you all x

"The Mice in the Pantry" story gave me flashbacks! Once, long ago now, I turned on the oven on an early Thanksgiving morn. 15 minutes later, the entire apt. reeked of urine. After much searching, found a mouse nest and tunnels in the insulation around the oven! They are crafty creatures!!! After hours of remediation, then, cooking, the turkey dinner was served to 10 people. What a way to find out there are mice in the house!!! A delightful episode, a great trio, and the gift of a blanket to knit. Thank you!!!

Watching from the UK. The quality street debate is raging over here too. They did do it for environmental reasons but it really misses the mark re being ‘the Christmas chocolates’ of choice. I’m with Bestsy on the orange and strawberry creams. They are long gone, and it’s the toffees that are still languishing in the bottom of the bowl😊

When visited PEI we were driving slowly down one of the red roads on the way to a lighthouse (surprise) and were so excited to see a bluejay that we didn’t get a shot. Should have taken a photo with the windows up. Should have turned the music off. Should have been quicker. We eventually did get a photo of a bluejay because we chased them. We don’t see them as much in Alberta normally. My fav bird!

Oh Kim - we all have mouses. Aren’t they offputiing? My THREE cats love to chase them but rarely kill them - they’re just too well fed. The critters come inside when it’s cold out. Try making a bucket trap - they’re effective and hands-free, sort of. Simone is incredibly resilient - sick but still goes for a winter dip! This year long KAL looks like a lot of fun. Is it Diva’s Desire? I love mine! I haven’t knit it up yet but it’s just gorgeous wool. Happy New Year to all.

May if you lock your cat in the pantry, she will eat them? It's not a good problem to have, I feel you! We had some in our house and we put some traps out where they could go in but not out. In other words, it doesn't kill them. We caught two in one of them. I had my husband take them out somewhere far away to let them out. So far, we've been good for a couple years now with no mice. I hope you'll be able to get rid of them soon.

hello, on the occasion that there is a fifth friday in a month, you could do something about felting, maybe invite a local felter who works with the feltingwool you are selling now. about the stranded-colourwork-blanket: I have made the martin-storey-blanquet. in the facebookgroup there were quiet some remarks from people who says : I can not do purling stranded-colourwork. those people need a bit of a push to try it, so maybe a tutorial on how you do it could be of some help. it is nice to see how enthousiastic the three of you are starting the new year!
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast 7 ай бұрын
Great suggestion on the tutorial. Since I almost always knit flat, purling in colour work is something I don't really think about too much other than it requires a bit more attention when you start the row. I forget that, like all things that are new, there may be some trepidation.

Yarns held together… all very well for yarn stores to sell more yarn, but for knitters on fixed income, these patterns are twice the price. I wish patterns would give single yarn alternatives to their « held together » versions.
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast
@FleeceHarmonyPodcast 7 ай бұрын
In this case Knitting with Olive does sell yarn, but ironically some of the most well known "double strand" designers don't. You can always just add up the weight of the yarns (Find the weight per yard of each of the suggested yarns) and then purchase a different yarn that sort of matches the weight of the double strand. We do this all the time in our store to help customers make the right decision for their project and their budget.
