We have to end the dependence on cars. We need to build a metro. It can serve dual purposes. One is transportation, of course. The other purpose is that this region has so many colleges and corporations in "Tech Valley" that we can use a metro system as a living laboratory to develop new transportation technology we can give to the world. It could be solar powered. It will attract people and investors who will have a convenient way to get around efficiently and will want to stay. Growth of this area will continue and increase exponentially. Remember three years ago when we put in a bid for Amazon to establish its second headquarters? That colossal idea is impractical if we have to build more highways and parking garages. Only having a metro would make something like that work. We should keep having such big dreams. But we have to make them practical. Which we should do anyway.

Love this, obviously it won't happen in a day, but it's a step toward a future that I hope isn't car dependent, is walkable, and is better for the environment, as well as economically beneficial for Albany.

I would build a tunnel under the Park/Boulevard for I 787 for Divers that want to Bypass it and go to the Thruway Plus it Would have I 787 survive

Where are the subway stations going? Or maybe a monorail along the river from parking lot on the north , south and east of Albany.

I'm curious, seeing all that roadway getting turned into parks, how will you combat traffic congestion? Will you make more public transportation accessible? Im looking to move to Albany for the long term and I am curious about this project. I lived in Tulsa Oklahoma for a year and they did something similar with The Gathering Place. But because of the increased interest, the traffic became terribly congested. Additionally, have you considered the effects on property value and tax increases for the lower income people? What infrastructure will you be putting in place to combat gentrification? I'm all for economic growth but these factors are things that have been demonstrated in cities all over America. It will disproportionately effect the black and brown population which may drive them out due to high prices. This effectively reduces valuable diversity in the social infrastructure. Just try to look at the cause and effect of your great ideas. Also, pay attention to who advocates them and who might be effected adversely and listen to both.

What happens to 787?

I hope this happens! Albany needs it. Where is the mayor on this? She has been in office for a while now and not much has changed. Should be a top priority. This type of project will take many years and involve many layers of government.

Are you going to get rid of the Empire State Plaza too? Go for the two for one.

Albany is very dumpy, I really hope people get together and save it, but there is so many empty warehouses and broken windows and terrible roads.. I can’t help but think this project would only be a “facelift” and not really fix the root causes bringing the city down. Albany needs help though for sure, and it would be nice to see more greenery there especially down in that area.

We need 787, it is the fastest way to get out of the dump of Albany. What's better the the smell of the dunn landfill, the PCBs of the Hudson, and being stabbed by a crack head while enjoying the non scenic atmosphere.
