I found an easier way to fix a gapped joint. I use CA glue and sawdust for a seamless fix.

Would the CA glue trick work on bigger holes and gaps, or is it mainly for smaller holes and gaps? My dad made me a bit of a headboard for a Christmas present, but there are a few interior fitment and miter gaps I'd like to make more invisible, aside from a half inch thick gouge on the bottom shelf board, it looks like he fixed using the glue and sawdust trick... Also, what CA glue, or what brand, preferably cheap as possible, would you recommend for bigger gaps and things???

I've done this one and it works great. If your gap is going to effect the structure and you need to ensure depth I have been known to use the shop vac turned down to the lowest on the back of the joint to pull the glue and dust down. If the gap doesn't go to the back I have used jewellers drill bits to open it a little from the other side and then fill them the same way afterwards.

Well I use a gloss poly for my finish, so I do not notice. If one was to use a different finish, maybe so, but I also think CA and dust is more stainable and blendable to the surrounding wood, compared to woodglue

My table saw is from the late 80s are you saying the lower retaining bolt for the slotted bracket should be loose so the motor just hangs and the weight of the motor causes it to self adjust?
@MakinSawdust

yessir, there will usually be a bit of thread locker on the bolt so it doesn;t back all the way out. I tightened my bolt up too, when I bought it and put it back together. it should be a shade loose. :)

Great question Bud! I don't rely on local business only. A fair bit of my business comes from online sales from butcher blocks i make and have on my website. I also make a fair bit of sales from repeat traffic from my (very) loyal audience on my main(other)channel. Also my income does not rely soley on woodwork. KZfaq, website and affiliate marketing have their own flow of revenue. The main point here to understand is that I live very humbly and dk not have car, boat, camper, etc payments. I also am very frugal as it comes to groceries and frivolous expenditures. No cable tv or satelite here. I live well within my means and am happy 😊

I waste so much wood because my cuts are always too short, I don't know why because I check, double-check and triple-check. I even add extra because I just know it will be short and even with the extra, they turn out short. They look the right size until I actually cut them - then they turn out short. It's driving my mad. Thank god this is only for my own use. I like to play around with these tools to see what I can do. I am not very good tho...........lol
@mayagayam
@mayagayam 2 жыл бұрын
Is your kurf fully on the waste side of your line? If you can lay your kurf 1 mm outside your line, then dial in a precise 2nd cut, it should help reduce the short-cuts problem. Hope this helps, cheers!

@casperwallace9685 2 жыл бұрын
@@mayagayam I have no idea what a "kurf" is
@mayagayam
@mayagayam 2 жыл бұрын
@@casperwallace9685 The kurf is the cutout made by your blade. If you are not thinking about it, and you cut on your line, that would explain why your cuts run short. The blade takes a chunk of wood out of your material, so you have to make sure the cut line is outside the line you draw. First measure the material you want, draw your line at the edge, then cut outside the line you drew. The blade will take the kurf chunk out of your waste material instead of the material you want to keep, and your cuts will be more accurate (as long as your tools and hands are going correctly). 😉
