True story. When i was little my dad was a logging trucker (still is) and i went to work with him everyday. I couldn't squat to pee in the woods without getting my legs. I was like 2. So he started to pull the straps out of his hardhat and hold it still for me to pee in like a little toilet. Then he would dump it out, spray it with a cleaner and put the straps back in. After like a week he got a second hardhat so there was a dedicated hardhat to pee in 🤣 I know that's totally weird but this was like nearly 40 years ago and a truck cab only has so much room. O always thought it was oddly sweet that my dad wanted me to be clean and comfy to the point he used the hardhat to improvise! No i didn't poop while at work with him. He worked normal hours and i went at home or in restaurants if needed!

Info in another video I watch, she addressed this toilet seat moisture also, she uses a pet floor wet sheet under her seat while not in use.

If you figure out what to put on the bottom, let me know because my pee jug sits too low as well and I end up peeing in the jug and in the bag. 😂

Lol i have no clue why so many ppl care about "how to poop" but you're not the first person I've seen have to go through the process of explaining 🤣 I will say, i do find your pine method interesting. Most ppl use the stuff for composting toilets. When i had a composting toilet 10 years ago in my home i wish i would've thought to go buy pine as it stayed too damp but instead i stuck with the stuff sold specifically for the composting toilet and it simply wasn't enough, iirc it was peat based which now that I'm into plants was really dumb 🤣

When u r out where do u put the used bags and number 2. I not going for more than a couple days at a time, so it easy for me to dump them. When I start taking longer trips I thought about an ammo box, because it is aur tight to put the daily used bags in.

That's awesome! It's the little things. I do a lot of adventure traveling in my Subaru, but someday I'll have a van. I have a collapsible toilet that's okay, but is a little too low to the ground. Yours looks a little more natural sitting. Thanks for all the ideas!

I built my van toilet using a bedside toilet. I hacked the back and sides off and built a wooden box with lid to hold it. The box is very sturdy and doubles as a seat or table or step stool. I also stick all our travel stickers to it.

This is the same toilet I have and yes the lid does collect moisture! I like that you’re able to remove the lid using it this way. I’ll have to check out this ottoman and see if it works in my truck. Thanks!

I hit restaurants, truck stops, etc. when I can, but in Feb 2022 I bought the Dometic 976 portable toilet & it was the best $150 I ever spent for vanlife. After trying many different products, I now ONLY us the orange Camco TST MAX RV Toilet Treatment(about $7 at Walmart) for inside the black tank. It controls smells, breaks down paper(use Angel Soft!) & does NOT smell like a nasty port-a-pottie, like that blue stuff. The top tank holds 2½ gallons of fresh water for flushing, and the bottom tank holds 5 gallons, but I've never gotten it nearly that full. Just dump & rinse once a week at an rv dump station or even into those gross port-a-potties! LOL NOT trying to hijack the thread, just sharing info for anyone who might find it helpful. Writing it out it sounds convoluted, but it's really quite simple to use & well worth it. *I am in a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country minivan.

Use the target bag as second bag. Primary bag is 8qt. After using, pull 8qt, tie it off, then put in target bag. I use similar setup: 3qt bucket with luggable Lou seat.

Sorry for asking if you shared this in another video but what is your preference for what you use in the toilet? So far those horse stable pellets from Tractor Supply have worked best for me. Also, do you haul out the bag and dispose of it every time you use the toilet or do you have a lid that seals it and allows for more than one use before disposing of the bag?

The pellets are the best! When I do#2, I tie up the bags and put it in my trash bin outdoors for disposal.
