Its actually shocking to me that London took this long to even have a night tube. And yes, the mice will have to change their schedule too.
@paulthomas82626 жыл бұрын
With actual tunnel you tend to have single rail tracks in one direction. NY metro is mostly dig an cover so they have spare lines for maintenance.
@peabody19766 жыл бұрын
It was a matter of train signalling, train control, and maintenance scheduling why it took so long. It has nothing to do with number of tracks. NYC MTA has quadruple tracks only on certain lines, and dual tracks on others, but the entire system is 24/7. London has only dual tracks on its Underground. The lines that are Night Tube are also deep-tunnel lines. Its "cut and cover" subsurface lines won't be ready for any Night Tube service until they work out train signalling and track upgrades, probably another three-four years.
@sonicboy6786 жыл бұрын
I should mention that some have three tracks, and the middle may be used for express service in one direction or short-turn service, though there are few instances of the actual use of that track. Oddly, an independent group proposed ending all night service for a number of years to fix the problems, even though full night closures isn't anywhere close to an adequate solution.

philippe Lebel Heathrow has a cerfew, but Luton, Gatwick and Stansted are all connected to the night tube network via National Rail and probably cater to the more price conscious market already and improved access to central London could see more appealing 'red eye' flights coming in. Just thinking out loud of course, but it seems to me this is capacity that people will use and flights might be one of the early things to capitalise.

Judging by how busy the night buses are at Trafalgar square I always thought there was a good market for night tube, the reduced frequency also probably makes it feel busier than it really is. The cheaper flights are often at more anti social hours, and some of the low cost is negated by the need for a taxi - I can see how this is helpful for airport travelers.

By 4 am I am usually the oldest and the only person travelling on the lower deck, apart from the driver. Any similar trends in London.

I was expecting that in a city like London the tubes are going 24/7 with at least one train every hour at night

Canary Wharf is my favorite on both Jubilee and DLR lines, maybe on the whole Underground.

Night Tube is long overdue in my opinion.

Of course it's busy! I always thought it was really weird that such a big city doesn't have regular 24 hour train service. People go out, people catch flights, people work until all hours...

There are some 24/7 bus and train services operating in and around London but it's impossible for the Underground because it's a two-track system which needs to close for maintenance at some time.

There has to be a future crossrail night tube and I recommend the service will run from Gidea park and Abbey wood to Heathrow T4

There should be a Night Bakerloo Line service from Elephant & Castle to Queen's Park, and a night DLR service from Canary Wharf to Stratford and Canary Wharf to Bank

Is it faster to get off the Piccadilly at Finsbury Park and get on the Victoria Line at King's Cross, then change back to the Piccadilly line using the secret tunnel?
