My best friend is actually Wes Craven’s niece, so she tells me a bunch of cool facts about him and the movies he made, like how nightmare on elm street was really low budget. She got me a poster of Red Eye from the original set it was filmed on. I think the silliness of his first appearance actually adds to the dream sequence. Running like a goofball killer done a hallway after a girl who has never seen you really increases the later scares you can control, especially considering that he controls that world and she has no idea of that.

I don’t know if it’s on purpose but when he says “I guess he couldn’t stay golden” is a possible reference to the book “The Outsiders” which is a book about greasers and features the poem Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert frost, talking about the cycles of life and death and innocence and I thought that was a really cool reference, a thing with greasers, or just something he said with no thought put to it so I guess that’s cool

I still can’t believe I’ve been following James and Dead Meat for like almost 7 years. I still remember being recommended the original Friday the 13th. Time literally does fly by once you get older.
