In this video, our owner Eric talks us through how Cigar Cellar handles smoke differently. Our monster exhaust fan is responsible for 20 air changes an hour-that's 9,000 cubic ft. a minute of moving air. Leave a comment below of any future videos you'd like to see!

Nice! I'd only suggest bringing the lights down below the fans to prevent the blading lights for reading and stuff, maybe with pendant light or so. Besides that, awesome design!

I had similar thoughts as PNCKing. Not only will it cause the stick to burn faster, but unevenly. I too thought the fan seemed loud in the video. Possibly not so loud in person(?). The open window to the bar is a neat idea, but Georgia is hot/humid in the summer. Being inside in the AC is a must, especially during allergy season. I think the best attribute to this venue is the extremely high ceiling. My thought would be to have a type of air siphon system up there. Maybe something like several in-line ducts with vents in the middle. This would pull the air from outside on one end, exhaust at the other end, and the vents would essentially siphon the smoke that has risen to the ceiling. Like how blowing air over a straw draws the liquid up. Minimal vacuum would be created, which would likely come from the doors being opened by customers. Just my theory, but I'm not an engineer or an HVAC pro. Your setup works great to rapidly exhaust a room, but I'm not certain that it is ideal for a controlled environment feel. I have a whole house fan in my double garage. I can smoke it up and kick on the fan to suck it out, but I would rather just have the smoke slowly removed as it goes up. I don't want to smoke in a wind tunnel.

This will work well during fall and spring. Just wait until summer and winter when people don’t want to be sweating / freezing from having that giant window open. Those experts you dismissed gave you the right way to achieve what you wanted. You picked DIY and there will be consequences to going for the more affordable route

I bet you’re not running those fans much when it’s 95°F plus outside, otherwise your undersized A/C will not keep up with the heat/humidity load. Some high efficiency air cleaners with carbon filters work great on the HVAC systems. 50 people takes another 2 Ton of cooling.

Maybe you could hang charcoal sheets in a pattern on the ceiling, idk if that would work to absorb smoke and smell. They could be changed every month or so

This is a great set up and he’s right I won’t smoke in my local cigar lounge because it’s to smoky. When I walk in to buy cigars I come out smelling like smoke. Not very pleasant. And I also don’t want to be breathing in other peoples 2nd hand smoke. So for that reason I only smoke outside no matter the weather which kind of sucks when it’s freezing out. Question though, when the Exhaust turns on does it burn your sticks quicker? It kind of looked like smoking when it’s windy outside. I mean I’ll take that trade off over smelling like smoke.

That's a great setup. I'd like to do something similar in my house. I just currently have an 18" exhaust fan in my smoking room that just blows out a casement style window and it's on a variable speed control so it's quiet because I only run it as fast as I need to just pull the smoke from where I sit close but it sure looks ugly in the room lol. I myself too love cigars but I don't want my house smelling like it. A local cigar lounge here is a nice place but it gets pretty bad inside. Nice to see someone addressing the issue that really works on all points

Look up AC Infinity inline exhaust fans. And Purifan hepa/carbon ceiling fans. I’ve read tons of great results with this combination. My equipment will be here Friday. Installing next week. I’ll give you feedback if you like. Tons of reviews on KZfaq about this combination.

The fan made a lot of noise when you turned it up. The vacuum puts an extra draw on the smoke 💨 it’s like fanning the cigar. That cause the stick to burn 🔥 to fast. The speed you originally had the fan seem fine. What do you do when it rains?

i would have made an perforated floor with air intake so you create and upward draft from the floor itself and then slow suction in the ceiling.

Question, was any thought given to multiple smaller systems instead of huge fans? I'd think, that having something that worked per zone might be very effective and provide redundant backup if one zone failed.

Say it's 95⁰ and high humidity outside. Opening that window and running that fan would essentially make it that warm and humidity inside. What type of cooling do you have in that to battle summer heat?

So like the way those would look in the ceiling of the room I’m in rn in my dads house or so 200 sq ft, the way it would look on the ceiling in here, y’all would need something that would be to scale and the same as/goes for your wear house too, bt lke, jst so tht it would/will dx it fast to whege you could even be on the other side of the room not even under or by it on the floor flat laying down in your stomach, and it’s still be able to efficiently/effector, just zhmoot, (sound of it gng fat towards the exhaust or little exhaust thing or so). Bit in tht case, I’d recommend gear drive/driven. Directs cool too, bt it mght be a little lxud or so

Occupancy can be determined by an AI software using your security cameras, then the VFD would set the fan speed accordingly. The only trade off with using an opening in the wall as an intake would be the inability to filter this incoming fresh air.

Most cigar lounges have an air formation system that "tries" recirculation the air and ferry out the smoke. It's expensive and needs maintenance. This guy just took a shortcut by letting mother nature do the filter work. I bet it is less than enjoyable there during extreme heat, extreme cold, or stormy weather.

Lke if it’s direct drive or so, unless it’s lke a variable speed, where it had the option to be quiet or so. But like a wind turbine or huge hvls fans lke wht y’all hve, to where they can spin slow, and even suck the paper towels/napkins up if wanted too but look slow like a wind turbine or hold fan

Are they direct drive, belt drive, or,/…chain drive? Ok chain isn’t js a common as belt or direct, but,/…iif you don’t want spin down in your/y’all’s fan thus cutting down the time it exhausts, because even when it’s spinning down, the shutters are still kinda getting sucked open slowly closing, which causes to still/slowky exhaust until it doesn’t. Belt however, it doesn’t really have any spin down time at/@ all depending on the sizes. A larger or jst a large belt drive fan will probably have the same amount of spin down as a small direct drive or so, bit unlike direct, it’s usually more maintenance. So whatta ya do,/???/…chain drive. Ok syre the south’s usually humid which isn’t really/usually good for metal, but still,/…I’d it’s protected then it should be good and or also if you like want the look of melt drive too, like why I’m thinking about converting my 50s horsey cooler modified unintentionally. New motor, spins counter instead of cloak wise, so then I had to get a blade that wound blow forwards instead of backwards unlike the original which I’d made to spin closiwude. Yeah, I ddnt know/realize that it wouldn't be the same even amount if air flow like it was before or like if it was a clockwise direction or so because of the way the housings set up. Bit honestly,/…I would’ve done 1/one if those cooling tower fans that are in the 10 ft diameter all the way to the 50 to 60 and higher or so in terms if size. And,/…the belt drives and or gear drives are pretty quiet if everything’s in place. But all you’d hs e to do if you do it ever dud the large size, is a 30ft by 60 ft cover roof thing with little support system things to hold it up and locusts in the same size too, dept on how big the place is. Or just like a fan exhaust thing that’s the size or almost/half the size of the building or so, so in those little areas, a 10 to 39 ft diameter fan, so it’d do or exhaust it even faster. Oh but then the backdraft or vacuum might blow the windows in xnd cause thm to break or so
