As a Christian I agree with what Maynard is saying. Faith without works is dead, James 2:26. What Maynard is saying is true and us Christians should listen, we have the same Holy Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead, so all of us can do something out here.

Christian missionaries have saved at least one hundred million lives in Africa and Asian in the last 100 years. Probably far more than that. The earliest efforts to fight malaria and polio came from missionaries. And in their view, it is the people scolding them who kill that many lives each and every year through the multi-billion dollar abortion industry.

This entire song is draws inspiration from the book of James 2:14-26. It literally says everything in the song. You can talk all you want, but if you don't prove your beliefs by your deeds, If you don't back up your faith by action, then your "faith" is useless, nothing, and dead, and those who see you for who are know you as a hypocrite. Actions speak louder than words.

What I gather from these first 3 songs is this. We have lost ourselves trying to find our way through this life. We have lost all connection to those around us and have traded it for a screen. We no longer value morality and empathy only words and opinion. We speak of the good we should do yet never find time to do it. We have lost our humanity and traded it for a shadow. We are disillusioned

Absolutely beautiful. Their entire album, Eat the Elephant, is phenomenal. I love how they tried something different in many of their songs, but kept to their APC style. Their music just takes you to a completely different world. The best part is, everything has a meaning to it, which just makes it even more amazing. Maynard is one of my favorite artists of all time. I saw APC in concert for the first time last year, and It gave me chills. Maynard's voice, especially in person, is beautiful. My family and I have been waiting for new music and we are not disappointed. Keep up the good work.

This song doesn't come across very Anti-Christian, but in the context of the rest of the album, you can see the truth of MJK's feelings. The Doomed is extremely Anti-Christian, so maybe you shouldn't get too excites.

I'm skeptical that it'll live up to The 13th Step, that album was a masterpiece. But I'm certain it'll be amazing regardless and I'll reserve my judgement until I've listened to it a few hundred times. There's definitely nothing wrong with them going in a new direction, it would be boring if they didn't.

Jeffrey Tan he said on the JRE that people want more Tool material, but he (and the rest of the band) just don't feel the same anger and angst that filled the band before. They "grew up" (not to imply that Tool is childish by any means, but being angry is tiring, and as we grow older, we realize that this anger is draining, without solving the problems.) You can still hear him shouting, and writing seemingly angry lyrics in Puscifer and APC, but they feel different, more desperate, like he knows there's no point

In Galatians 5: 22-23 it says the “fruits of the spirit” are “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” The message here is that those who truly follow Jesus would exemplify these traits. Now ask yourself how many so-called Christians actually exhibit those traits.

How can you not be enthusiastic about an APC album after so many years? That's insane. And yea, the bass does sound cleaner than in other similar music, but it also sounds boring af to play. One of the reasons I won't be learning the lower tunings on a bass is simply because nobody knows what a bassist is supposed to do, and everyone makes boring bass lines instead. And it's just especially true with lower tunings sadly.
@OrienBand
@OrienBand 6 жыл бұрын
Bass lines shouldn't be interesting. They are there to support the music as a whole. One boring note can completely change the whole feel of the song.
@RegularSean

I agree that the rhythm section is the foundation upon which everything rests. That doesn't mean it is at all uninteresting or boring. The technique here is flawless. The recording mix and master is perfect. The only part I really find boring is the guitars, but I've never really thought Billy was a really great guitar player, just a really good songwriter.
@RegularSean
@RegularSean 6 жыл бұрын
I dunno, man. After all the covers and whatnot I just lost interest. As far as tuning a bass down... I mean... why bother? Fill the voids left between guitars and vocals, and stay locked with your drummer. You don't need to go lower than everything to have an impact, you just have to fill the void in a creative way that is unique to you.

Having been a lover of your music over the years, this one surprised me. I'd been suffering from a painful arthritis in my back. I by coincidence ran in to my best friend from h.s. back in the 80's. He needed a ride to church as he was the drummer for the band and I played guitar. Long story short, after a couple visits a pastor came over and asked if he could pray for me. I said sure whatever. He put his hand gently on my head, said a short prayer and when he said in jesus name, the pain was gone. The inflammation was gone. It took a while to see what had happened. I wasn't a Christian in any way. One coincidence led to another which led to my healing. Not preaching, just saying I felt an overwhelming sense of joy, power, love, etc. and I wasn't a Christian. I am now. That was only the beginning. I could write a book on how God has blessed me since then, or maybe a couple of books. lol
