This cast-on is stretchy and easy. I learned it from Tillybuddy's video - it's perfect for brioche knitting, socks, and necklines. Please note: This cast-on creates TWO STITCHES at a time, so be careful of your counts!

I just watched Tillys vid before yours. Hers was simple to do. Wow, yours is much easier to do. The yarn doesn’t get caught or slips off. Thank you so much for your tutorial! Looking forward to other tutorials!!

Thank you for sharing this. Think this is my new go-to cast on! Thanks too for the tip of knitting the first row. Have gone back to try that. A shot of what that looks like would be useful to see how the cast on lies. I’m about to tackle a brioche hat. 🤞🤞

This is an absolute masterpiece ❤. Thank you so much for a clear and easy method. I tried so many others and this is the absolute standout!

It’s so fast and so pretty and neat and not only that, you get to stitches in one maneuver!!🤗🥰 This is also easier when casting on circular needles, which I use a lot for making hats. Thank you for sharing this!💗

Just tried this after watching tillybuddy's video, tried joining to knit in the round and it turned into a mess. Going to give it another try using your suggestion to knit the first row flat. Thank you ❣️🧶

I love your suggestion of knitting a row BEFORE joining (for something in the round). Palm to forehead...why wasn't that obvious to me? You've made my life easier!

Wouldn't knitting the first row flat after a stretchy cast on defeat the need for that stretchy edging? i.e. tighten up the stretchiness? Guess I need to try a few swatches to test that out. 🤔

i don't use the slip not, just hold the yarn along the needle making a small loop near the needle tip and start casting on.

Thank you very much. This is a great alternative to the German twisted stretchy cast on, which uses the left thumb to tension a 'slingshot' of yarn. I can't do that one because I have arthritis in my thumb joint, so this one is much easier.

I just watched two other videos for stretchy cast on and I could NOT achieve the cast on. Mind you i do have arthritis in my fingers and cannot grip the wool as well as probably needed, which may have been one problem, but the videos were so complicated i gave up .This is SO much easier. Thank you.

I love this bind on, i am knitting vests for my two week old premie grandson and a stretchy cast on is critical.I have tried another stretchy cast on and wasn’t able to execute the first row without the stitches becoming so loose and horrible that I abandoned it, may have been my technique.

Thanks! Coukd we please see what that cast-on looks like on an FO or completed swatch. Because, of course, the reasons for choising a particular cast on include not only stretchiness (if that’s what is needed) but also the final look of it - how even and neat it looks on the knitted piece!

If you need an odd number of stitches, should you keep the slip stitch from the beginning?

This seems a LOT like the Chinese Waitress Cast On! You're even untwisting the stitches like you're supposed to do! I learned this one from Liat's videos. Only it's definitely different than any other one I've seen in that you wrap the yarn and wind up making 2 stitches at once. Have you tried it with the crochet hook? Anyhow thanks much for the video! I'm excited to try this method with the extra wrapping on the needle, should cut my CO time in half 😁 And yes! You're absolutely right about it being an incredibly versatile CO. Does your method leave you with 2 neat, knitted edges?

I am a relatively beginner knitter. What do I do with the extra stitch (the initial slip knot) if I need an even number of stitches? I am going to try this with a 2 x 2 ribbing. Should I just knit two together when I get to it on the first row? Thanks for a great video!

I often drop the slip knot after getting through any cast on since I do not like the odd bump a slip knot leaves. Basically I cast on an extra stitch to accommodate dropping the slip knot.

Or, you could easily start this stretchy cast on technique without a slip knot. Simply start off with this technique.

I might be too late for comments, but what am I doing wrong, it all seems to be going well, then at the end the method leaves me with one extra stitch..

Yes. You want to unpick the initial stitch. There was an Aussie lady who did this tutorial as well (didn’t know that till I clicked) and she explained that you have to take out the initial stitch ❤️
