What do a player's personality, media handling style, social group, and hierarchy position all have in common in FM20?
They are affected by hidden attributes! The seven mystical Football Manager ‘personality’ attributes that dictate everything from a player’s commitment in training to their attitude towards you. Football Manager 2020 couldn’t keep it’s secrets from me forever though, as I provide the guide to end all guides, the tutorial to end all tutorials, on how to learn the hidden keys to your players. I have a 16-year old Belgian wonderkid who has a media description that says: "dishonest" and boy, I thought he was going to get me lots of yellow and red cards but no, the guy's an expert at getting unfair and undeserved penalties! Love it to be honest :-)

One of my regens was a 'mercenary' interestingly it's not a bad personality apart from having absolutely no loyalty

A fitting video, considering the confusion surrounding the personality system. On the pros and cons of the scout reports, I've always found it bizarre that the negatives of injury proneness and ill-discipline become visible, but not the positives of injury resistance and fair play. The game does the complete opposite with consistency, big matches, etc. where if it's good, you get that detail too. What the game chooses to show you and not show you is just bemusing. But anyway, enjoyed the video. I think it's pretty well known now that better personality players will consistently overperform their similarly skilled bad personality counterparts... but it didn't used to be.

Injury record and disciplinary record over the years may give you some clues - although not with young, inexperienced players

Model Citizens are really rare. In my experience it´s best to have model citizens as team leaders and fill your team with professional players. If you can afford the rare Model citizens. Professional is also easy to get for your youth coach so he can pass this onto your youth players.

Only reason I have known abou hidden attributes since forever (since CM2 97/98) is that I always liked tinkering with the editor tool.

I had a player (regen for PSV), and he always got angry. He has low temprament, but he was motivating other players by being aggressive quickly.

imho, spirited players with high determination are the 3th best choice, right after model citizen and perfectionist.

In an older version of FM or CM when they had the 'bad' personalities set for the real players Darren Randolph had a temperamental personality when he played at Motherwell I think. I never really got it myself. Seems like a decent guy.

.... and this is why I use the editor to see these attributes. Looking up terms and then learning what it means in relationship to attributes is just a longer way of using the editor. May as well cut out the middle man

How about rare ones like "Charismatic Leader" "Born Leader" "Leader" which have high leadership? I always scout regens with "Determination" and "Work Rate" > 12 and this gives me Wonderkids. You can't go wrong with High Determination and Workrate, they give the best and want to reach the potential fastest. Also, you forgot THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO EVER CHECK WHEN BUYING A PLAYER ! Drumroll..... HIS INJURY HISTORY. If you see a full list of injuries, you can discard him asap. That's my best advice.

So what is the absolute best personality? I had a regen who I got up to 'model citizen' with mentoring (by a model professional), but he changed to 'resolute' after more mentoring... Now I have a new regen that has grown to 'model citizen' - should I take him out of the mentoring group and just let him be, since I assume it is the best personalty there is?

So i hope someone can answer this question im from Sweden and playing on Swedish and personality trait if i translate it directly to english means something like unpredictable,haywire,unsteady,irrational etc but of course none of those personalities is mentioned here anyone know what that could be in FM. This guy is one of my regens and already playing quite a bit in my first team and future star most likely so it would be nice to know.

The perfectionist is one you should be REALLY careful with. Lest you raise a class of youth graduates that chase around John Terry with a putter or kick Sergio Aguero in the leg so he can score on you in the 94th minute and relegate you on the final day. The former is understandable, the later not so much.

10:00 I signed a player with 20 controversy and his personality was balanced. He's called Deniz Naki, he's got a criminal charge and has been shot at while driving.

FM Base TRUE. Professionalism is also important! But if you have a mediocre player with consistency above 16, you’ve got a real assets Also since you replied to me you’ve gained a subscriber

@@defealeladia9990 in my experience, I have found a lot of overlap between professional players and consistent performances, whether they have the "consistent" pro or not on their report.

So if you are driven you have very high determination but your ambition cannot be better than good? This doesn't make sense at all. What is the actual difference between determination and ambition anyway?

Determination means you want to win matches and will do your best to achieve that, even when things initially go wrong. Ambition means you want the best for yourself as soon as possible. Ambition to me is overrated.
