@@JMoruzzia waste? if her publisher would run this would be a hilarious story, i once interviewed a manager of a paper company and it was the absolute worst i've ever done. he repeatedly mentioned what a brilliant boss he was, boasted about his romantic exploits (which he suddenly had nothing to say about when i asked for details), tried to control what i wrote. during the interview, one of his staff resigned - which he was convinced was because he was being made redundant himself. by the end of the interview representatives of another company he was working for had been let in to tell him they wouldn't be working with him again, at this point he kicked me out.

When I watched this show for the first time I thought, "WHO does he remind me of?" It drove me crazy. After a while I realized that it was my boss at the time: Thought he was funny, wasn't; thought everybody loved him, they didn't; was forever saying inappropriate things while everyone else cringed. There really is a David Brent "type" among supervisors.

My boss was kinda like that too, she was a woman so it was a bit different dynamic but she also thought she was kind of like a mom for the team and she really was… in all the worst ways as in almost thinking we were children.

Not every country would challenge Brent's rap overtly (or literally), as often happens in The Office, like here. Some would let him ramble on with a polite nod or two and then rewrite the whole garbage behind his back.
