My cousin comes over to make a huge difference by installing a wheelchair ramp to help me get out of the house

I feel you. At 17, I went down on black ice and instantly broke both of my ankles (no gear at all in those days). Don't ask me how because I have no memory of the specifics. I had to crawl to a friend's house at about Zero degrees (I was in Wisconsin at the time). For the better part of 6 months I was almost completely dependent on other people for everything. It's extremely annoying.

You will receive all the help you need to overcome these challenges. God is with you

I know exactly what you mean about the feeling of dependence. I don't think any real adult wants to be dependent, but for those who cherish our individual liberty, even a temporary dependence on others is almost intolerable. I'm grateful to have people I can count on if needed, but I try to help a lot more than I'm helped. It's encouraging to see you regaining your freedom.

When you first described the ramp as providing freedom, I really wanted to clip that and follow it up with Sterling Noren sipping coffee in the desert and exclaiming "freedom".

Just another thought (occasionally they flutter through the dim dark recesses of my mind). Don't be too proud to accept a helping hand when you need it. Be proud that you are who you are and you have family and friends who want to help you. Roll Safe👋 👽

That's priceless that you have family to help you, but I fully get what you are talking about doing things for yourself, not good with charity and uneasy asking for help. In fact, I thought you were describing me🤣 I always have done it all myself, had freedom in a Suzuki 90 at 14, and a car or 2 and a bike 2 or 4 or 5 😳. You're looking great, and things are getting better day by day. It may not go back to exactly the way it was, but it will be damn close. You got this brother!

First vid of yours I saw was where you showed you’d lost your foot. So happy to see you on the med so quick and great attitude. Very inspiring and best wishes for you. I know needing some help at moment sucks but you’ll be fully independent soon brother! Hang in there!

I’m praying for your quick recovery and healing from your accident, and I hope that you’ll get back to riding again somehow. I lost my ability to ride for 10 years, and now I’m back and it’s wonderful! Stay strong my brother!

And here I thought "FREEDOM" actually meant burnt chicken all this time😂 Remember Don, you're still riding, it's just a one-Don powered wheelchair. One "step" (meaning level in this case) at a time. Soon enough you'll be back on a bike! Roll Safe 👋 👽

Hey man, I'm just catching up on your story today. I saw an earlier video, so excuse my use of the c-word, but: A "cripple" is only defined by limitation. My dad has one leg and he is the baddest mother fucker I know, smart as a whip and the best grandfather my son could have. Growing up, I didn't realize he could be called "a cripple" until I was in my teens lol...I thought "cripples" were people who couldn't do anything. We all know and have come across folks with 4 limbs who were truly "crippled" in ways that are way bigger than a leg or an arm. Cheers brother, hang in there. Chicks dig scars.

Can you use a knee scooter?? Also have you thought about getting your pedals in your truck reversed? These are things I've been thinking about for myself when the time comes.
