As a fellow addict, i take suboxone to keep me off of heroin i now have two years clean....Its saved my life. I now know what its like to feel normal again and have a normal life. People have mixed emotions about drugs like these. But to me, if it wasnt for suboxone, i probably wouldn't be here today!

Suboxone is prescribed improperly. Its sad because if it was done correctly people would not be addicted to it. But once addicted to it, it is too late. Suboxone 1st day double the dosage and enjoy the buzz 2nd day do the same 3rd day 1 pill 4the day 1 pill 5the day 1/2 pill 6th day 1/2 pill day 7 1/4pill day 8 done. Don't eat it again. This works but you have to be ready. And I don't about weening off from long term use. But if done the way I suggested Zero withdrawal.

Naltrexone works, but you don’t feel good. It really makes you feel messed up, like spaced out, and very strange. Taking it every day, makes you feel fucked up. I keep it on hand for when I might be in a situation where there is alcohol.

Plus you must take high does of Baclofen for life. Naltrexone you take less and less as your brain heals and unlearns the addiction. Once abstinent, the naltrexone can be stopped. A more perfect solution.

AA is the worst place in my opinion for an alcoholic. Because after you dropped them off, because they had too many DUIs. They're now in a room full of alcoholics, new drinking buddies. I stopped going when a man had this big pot luck dinner party for his 5 years of "sobriety". His family was there, was a big deal. The guy showed up blacked out drunk. I just left. Never went back.

I'm curious, does it make you depressed if your not feeling joy? Since it's euphoria blocking, does it take from other things that you WANT to be pleasurable? I'm just curious because alcohol has to go that's why I wantedit, but I don't want other positive healthy habits and activities to be the trade off

Doesn't the alcohol still affect your body whether or not you get the pleasure of drinking? I'm not referring to the actions of a drunk person (stumbling, etc.) but more of the internal affects (kidney failure, seizures, etc.). I ask because one of my siblings is an alcoholic but his body is highly dependent on it.

Jeannine Ross It has worked for me, but if someone is severly addicted where they cannot physically get through a day without alcholol then they need to work with a doctor. They may have to go through a detox somewhere and then at a later time can get on the Neltrexone. If someone is severly physically addicted and quits cold turkey then they can have seizures and other serious medical issues so it's best to discuss it with their doctor.

If someone needs detox, see a physician. The alcohol still affects the body and the medication affects the liver as well. Although with greatly reduced drinking you can get pretty substantial relief there.

You still feel the effects of the drink, you can still get drunk and still drink, it's supposed to not have you go insane or on a binge or drink the whole bar clean. You can have a couple and you YOURSELF say, I'm okay, that's enough.
