Tractor Time with Tim

Tractor Time with Tim

6 жыл бұрын

Tractor Time with Tim has always wondered if Johnny (John Deere 1025R) would be useful on the farm. We find out when trying to clean up around the farm sheds and yard. Guest appearances by the Farmall 706, Case Backhoe, John Deere 3320 and more. Of course Tim's family is all there to help - Ray, Tom, Randall, Ruby (Tim's mom), Andrea (Tom's daughter) and Molly, the family dog.

Yea, the grapple is nice, but the family is priceless! Andrea, Tom's daughter got married last weekend. We were cleaning up for her wedding. We had 90 folks in one of those sheds for a dinner the evening before the wedding.

I'm on a ttwt binge watch and I really admire how your family farm doesn't have a skid steers. I myself am not a skid loader fan. On our farm we have two loader tractors and I say that's all we need but every farmer just swears by the skid loader. I love the Case 💪💪

Great video!! Thank you for sharing! I look forward to all of your videos but I really enjoy the times you are out to the farm! It looks like your parents have done a fantastic job raising a family that can work together like you do. If that was me and my brother doing that stuff I can about promise their would have been a hospital trip at some point. I’m very happy your dad is doing better and I’m sure it’s harder on him not being able to jump in and do all the stuff he has done his hole life. That’s how it was with dad. Anyway great video keep up the good work

Well, that is not the type of situation where Johnny would be most susectible to turning over. More likely is driving on a slope with a full bucket raised to high. I didn't feel any danger at all in this situation. I wish I could explain it better. Perhaps I should make an attempt sometime. I do have video of a couple of instances where I thought that I sincerely MIGHT turn Johnny over. ...MUCH different scenario than this one.

Tim and family, this is just about my definition of a perfect day, working on the place with family. It is so refreshing to see you folks interact and enjoy each other's company. Your videos have become some of my favorites and I'm happy to see your Father out and working, probably some of the best therapy available and I'm sure he enjoyed getting some clean up work accomplished too. Some of the best memories of my family are days spent working on these types of tasks as you folks did in this video. I'm betting there was a meal or cook out involved too maybe?? Anyway, all the best to you and yours, I have to go get on my new GC1710LBT now and play, I mean, "work". Alan in KY

@TractorTimewithTim
@TractorTimewithTim 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think that is the point. We have been around them all of our lives. Everyone has all of our fingers. :-) Also, you only see "two dimensions" on video. I have noticed recently ...as I have been looking for this...that situations look dramatically different in video than in real life. Especially in the sense of depth perception. You really can't tell for sure how close something is from a video. The MAY be exaggerated even more by the GoPro which has a warped 'fisheye' type wide angle lens. Anyway, yes, sometimes we are in there close, but after all these years, we've learned to understand when the operator is in full control, and when there is a good possibility of a 'slip up' or something. In some ways, we LIKE folks seeing us in real-world action. Perhaps folks can better understand and determine REAL, PRACTICAL, safety rules instead of the textbook "never get closer than 100' to anything rules.

You know I understand what people mean by AG tires tearing up the yard. It depends on the kind of yard and soil that your yard contains. At my house we have some dirt on top and 4-6 inches of clay below that dirt. I have lived here for 13 years and I have only seen a few summers where there is NO mud at all! We got stuck in just turf tires! I couldn’t imagine what AG tires would do! So again it all depends on the kind of soil your land has. And in the Midwest it varies drastically everywhere you go.

I've run a payloader a bunch over the years. Way past what it was designed for but with experience you get the feeling of when the machine gets light on a side or corner for that matter. If your running something articulated the center of gravity changes from side to side when you turn the steering wheel so it's possible to be driving with a load on one tire. Done it. That's a feeling of all it's own. John Deere 644b has no slip front axle.

The point is that you are showing the value of the 1025r sub-compact and the comfort of your Dad's 3 series that it allows him, in his fragile state of health, to mow in comfort all afternoon. Besides, if you can't have respect for those old workhorse Farmalls, you are in the wrong business. Y'all be blessed.

Yea. Your point is RIGHT ON. One needs to be concentrating, calculating, thinking during every moment on one of these tractors. You have to "feel" for what is going on, anticipating how the tractor will react to the next movement. Being surprised is the most dangerous thing. I was momentarily surprised after pushing those roots forward, then going backwards again. I thought the roots were free....then they jerked the tractor tight. I don't like being surprised. There was really no danger there, but still, it is best if the operator properly anticipates every reaction of the tractor. Appreciate your comments, Roy!

Yea another day with Tim's family on the farm. Tim don't feel bad about the rose bush the tree had been there so long that I'M sure the roots of the tree and rose bush had become intertwined together and I'M not sure there would of been away to get the tree out without the rose bush coming with it. Who was the girl riding in the trailer with Christie and Molly ? Tim you scared me a couple of times messing with that mulberry tree I thought you were going to turn johnny over. i really like your Dads tractor the 3320 with the cab on it. Looked like a productive day and a fun day all the boys playing with their toys. LOL If this was after your dads stroke he is looking very good. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great weekend. God Bless!!!

Yes, after dad's stroke. He seems to be recovering pretty well. No stamina, but he CAN be up and around. Yea, rose-bush was funny. We went to all that effort, and were trying to be so gentle, then "pop"....the whole thing came up. It was kinda funny to hear dad's reaction. That was Andrea, Tom's daughter. She was in several of our videos in 2015 when she lived with us for 9 months. She was in school here in town during that time. She was also in the "It Eats the Grain" harvest video last fall.

We were out that way a few years ago. Drove into the driveway of "The Hermitage", but it was closed. Katriel went there on a missions trip of sorts when she was in Junior High: www.godinternational.org/nashville-slam/ Anyway, we should get together sometime.

Be careful pulling trees and shrubs with your loader up in the air. You can snap the cylinders. Don't ask me how I know this. P.S. Its not a cheep fix.

Haven't measured exactly. I can say that it "just wider" than the 4' tiller, and that it fits inside the 60" mower he has on it. So, it isn't much wider than Johnny. I'm guessing 50-52". Tipsy, but I like the narrow stance for lots of tasks.
