Having received that call from the doctor I understand the fear and reluctance in calling back as well as the sadness when loved ones far away don’t visit. I’ve known I’ve been terminally ill for a year now and my son still hasn’t flown out. He is in touch and calls and we talk (we are close but not distance wise) but I had hoped he would be here sooner. Not as much for me as for him. I don’t want him to regret not coming more when I’m gone.

Thank you. She recited that poem for me at my own dauther's baby shower. I was so lucky that it was recorded. She has since passed but she was a great neighbor and one of a kind lady.

It looks as if the bird came to visit her more than her family. *Remember people to check on the elderly and remind them how much you adore and love them. ( Yes I practice what I am typing.😁)

If you can learn anything from this... it’s that society needs to develop more activities that can be shared with vulnerable individuals as well as normal citizens, integrative opportunities that nourish the minds and bodies of all through methods that do not bring environmental or historical harm. Lots of innuendos need to be shut down.... such as how a person looks or smells when they are old or sick, the “boring aura” another may have, the help and awareness required, etc... We need to spaces where we can comfortably enjoy another’s presence, and awareness activities on how to maintain a positive outlook and healthy relationship.

You are taking the poem literally and not seeing the real humor and heart. Of course Alba didn't mean it to hurt the animal. She was rough around the edges but had a heart of a gold and loved all living things. That's what sarcasm and irony is. You have to see the beauty in the poem and not take things literally.

This made me sad and angry cause when my grandma got sick all she wanted was her family to visit her besides just me and my mom and i swear when she cried because my younger cousin whom she took care of after her(my cousins) mom died, no one else in the family wanted her and they said if no family takes her she’s going into Forster care, my grandma at 70 something took the classes and became her(my cousins) guardian and once she turned 18 and left never called to check on my grandma, not even when she was in and out of the hospital and rehab, and i would tell hwr( my cousin) you need to call, not even talk for hours but just call. I hate that people let their “busy” life interfere with visiting their loved ones. It’s been only 8 months since my grandma died and i am still trying to forgive. But it hurt me to see my grandma hurting
