So excited for the update! My husband has been asking me (his fundraising swims were in ‘83 and ‘84). We’ll be praying and watching and will look forward to the next update. The good thing is, no matter the outcome of her swim, the benefit for their mission in Malawi has already been brilliant. We’ll keep trying to get our donation to go through. (And welcome back - you’ve been missed.😊)

5:43 BST It looks like Emma's boat is heading for the starting point Good luck! Looking at the previous cross channel swim tracking, it looks like they do double the distance due to tidal flows.

Amy, it's about 9:12a.m. in the Pacific Northwest. It looks like Emmas is at least 3/4 of the way to France. Last night I was worried as the Anastascia didn't seem to be there. However, this morning when I hovered over the boats I saw it. No matter what the outcome what a fantastic accomplishment.

Thank you for a great update. Will check out Emma's link. How fascinating to be able to follow a swim across the channel. Please do give us an update on how you're doing. Certainly, hope it was as easy as taking iron pills for anemia, or something like that. Looking forward to seeing more coach house updates. Do you have to take Clement to school an hour and a half each way?

12 hours of swimming.. no thanks but all the best of luck to Emma and hope everything goes well for her! I hope they can get a TV or 2...at my daughter's pediatric dentist, they have a TV mounted above every dental chair and the kids can watch a movie or show while their teeth are being cleaned or worked on and it works amazingly!

Update: unfrozen now! My brother just hadn’t added some personal details in time 😂 As of a few minutes ago there’s a problem with the donation page and it’s been frozen. Apparently it’s just an admin issue but annoyingly my brother who runs it is in a different time zone and won’t be able to sort it for a few hours. If you want to donate then please, please check back in a few hours time!

Well done it was a beautiful day so hopefully all ok. She came ashore near my favourite restaurant in this area but at night the dunes come alive with immigrants trying to row to the UK so should have been interesting. There is a person trying to swim to France and in the opposite direction hundreds trying to go the other way. It’s a mad world. 🍷🍷🇬🇧🇬🇧

They live in homes where the family cook on fires that are unfortunately accessible to the children. Accidents do happen.

Amy, what can be done (or is being done) to prevent these burns from happening in the first place? Education? Better cooking/open fire practices?

I’m afraid I don’t know. It’s a massive topic involving changing the situation of millions of people. People don’t have kitchens or furniture so they just cook on camping stoves on the ground, and kids are kids.
