This is great. But I'd use a 10" square of batting, then cut it into four 5" squares. That way you can make a matching set of these coasters. Keep up the great work.

Cute idea... But...I would have not had so much fabric left on both ends... I would have started closer to the end of my fabric scraps...That way it would leave you with a longer strip to use on another block just on one end.. I know that the cut off pieces can be used for another project...but wouldn't it be nicer to have one by long scrap on one end rather than 2 little short pieces????
@alandacraft
@alandacraft Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment Brenda 😊. I probably should have taken a bit more care with placing the strips but I didn't even think about it at the time. I just happened to be in the craft room and these scraps were sitting there. So I thought I would do a quick video to show what can be done with scraps. The object was just to get the video done. I have an absolute mountain of scraps and any bits that are trimmed off go into my crumb quilting pile, and even the tiniest bits go towards stuffing an economy quilt so nothing goes to waste.

What a lovely little video . This coaster would be nice in xmas fabrics. Make a set of 4 as a gift or go for a larger rectangle and make Mug Rugs or Table Mats. I'd probably put the strips on straight vertically rather than on the diagonal for larger pieces. Tfs

This video is just to show a quick and easy way to use up scraps and that is what I am using - scraps from my stash. Anyone making this can take the time to position the scraps so they don't overhang as much. However, the pieces that I cut off are used in our crumb quilting projects www.alandacraft.com/2017/09/08/crumb-quilt-technique-tutorial/ and other sewing projects. So there is very little waste in the end.

Hi Elsa. Most quilting tutorials will tell you what material you need to use. Generally quilts are made from Quilting Cotton. I mostly use a standard 90/14 needle. It works for most quilting and sewing projects. Here is a link to our website where you will find lots of beginner quilting and sewing patterns. I don't have anything on mending though. www.alandacraft.com/
