This is pretty fucking simple. The one from the first movie was in a flooded basement so it was literally just walking on the floor. This one is in deeper waters.

Simple. The creature did not swim in the basement. It’s obvious when you consider that the woman was standing in the same water and wasn’t swimming. So the creature…simply….walked across the floor. Or slunk given that it stayed submerged. And it’s logical that they cannot swim given that their skin is dense enough to stop kinetic rounds from piercing. Dense objects weigh a lot. Heavy things don’t float very well unless they are planned for that purpose. And this alien was not designed to swim. Obviously again as it has no gills, fins, and walks on appendages that flail helplessly in the water. Hope this helps

Roanoke Gaming actually answered this before. So basically in the meteor that the aliens came down on, it was just a bunch of caves and crevices inside of it but since they're familiar with water, it is speculated that there were just like some puddles in the caves that there are on earth aswell. So basically my they're familiar enough with water to be around and go into it but not enough to actually swim. This also explains why the creatures don't use eyes and only echolocation because caves don't emit any light, especially when hurdling through the void of space for year upon years.

I think the creatures have a sonar like vision, based on sound. In that flooded basement, I think it could tell the depth, so that it could walk. But in the deep waters, it couldn't tell the depth.

First one is shallow water…so he basically walked at the bottom. Second one. Cant feel the floor? Oh shit

I asume this is because they can touch the floor in the basement... But the lake is deeper so the death angles cant have anything to stand in the water. Also those red eyed freaks are just weirdos not important |:|.

Sonar works better underwater sound travels faster and further underwater so that's a possible reason. Also sound outside of water versus sound inside of water make sense of why the alien went under the water to hear anything that was in the water as opposed* to* out* of the water. It would also make sense of how the alien got so close to the Sound Source of the humans.

Keep in mind that the flooded basement is a lot shallow than that lake that one creature drowned in, which would help explain why the first one was fine, while the second one drowned, since maybe their armor and thin build makes it so they aren’t very buoyant.

After seeing the very true 3rd installment of the film I can confirm they do in fact not explain this. Matter of fact, they confuse you even more as a death angel dies in about 10 feet of water after being underwater for only about 30 seconds

Spoiler alert. In Day One, most of the Death Angel cant swim but they tend to hold their breath up to only a few seconds before drowning as seen in the subway scene below the church. Which means they can dive into flooded basements or rivers that are not too deep and as long as they can crawl in it.

My guess is the room in the first room didn’t have a lot of water so it was easier for the creature to move around in the water. But in open water they can’t because there’s no ground. But that’s my guess

For everyone saying it was walking NO. Walking would require splashing it dove in and was extremely silent so gliding was involved and it seemed to know its way that being water should DISTORT theyre hearing so if anything it going under should be a hinderance because its difficult to hear when submerged sure there are muffled sounds but i say its a clear disadvantage

In the first flim ot was an underground bunker with a floor with allowed the death angel to walk underwater but in the second flim the death angel goes into deeper water with a solid surface way beneath the water

Well actually in the 2nd film it shows us the death angels really can't swim

The way I see it, either it's a toddler version which is highly unlikely by its size, or just like humans not everyone can swim, some even are terrified and refuse to get wet but that's just a theory, an alcoholic theory!

I think there's a correlation between these creatures and water. While they may not be able to swim well, they obviously know water and seem to navigate it well. They also survived a trip on an asteroid that hit Earth, so they seem pretty indestructible!

Guys guys I got this I'm an expert so here's my theory : So the first alien aka a death angel comes from a planet from Space so that makes them aliens, it seems that in some other theories there is no light so that's why they have no eyes so the planet has either come from a different universe or galaxy and we only have water so that techinicly makes us good at swimming while they never seen water. (The reason it didn't die) So now we are on to comparing the first on and second one, so the first monster is in a flooded basement which makes the water lower so I think that is dived down and realized it touched the floor so it pushed down from their arm so it can get up back to shore. Now the second one is in salt water so it makes it vulnerable, no it can't push down from a object so from their planet it has no water so they never learned to swim so that's why it's arms was going up and trying to grab on to something to help it get back to shore. (Comparing) Now you may think why did the second monster die? So diving and jumping into water are pretty different, so diving is pushing yourself into water which makes your body glide through water smoothly and jumping is applying air to pressure your body softly before jumping to water and you immediately float and the way the second monsters pose made it sink down so that’s why (I worked so hard and used theories for this comment 😭😭)

A Quiet Place franchise is just a bunch of "made you jump" scenarios. They are more interested of setting up the next terror scene Tham forming a coherent plot.

The water in the basement was not very high, and it likely could crawl along the floor under the water. Meanwhile, in part 2, the water was a bit deeper, and it couldn’t stay afloat, while in the basement, it just was shallow enough for it to stand. Also, they came from a planet with caves and crevices that (according to some sources) likely had shallow water in them, making the death angels more used to that, and since, like with bats, the caves that they lived in didn’t have much or any light, they had no real need for sight, so they relied on sight and echolocation to hunt and find prey for food.

I hope that, if they DO release a 3rd movie, it's not just the same old same old. I think this story would make a good series, though.

Honestly if you look back at a the first movie the timeline between them too are different with Quiet Place few months or a year after the first attack & quiet place 2 shows you everything leading up to that point. But to answer the question it just showing you how they evolved with the first one being later down the line with barely any human life vs how they came to a new strange planet they had to get use to

They were formed on a planet with much heavier gravity making their skin much more thicker and dense. However due to their armor being so dense, they cannot swim at all and drown In deep bodies of water 😊

Well it’s possible that they can’t swim right off the bat and have to learn how to, which I imagine will be hard considering their armor. Either that or the flooded area was shallow enough or the alien, like everyone else is saying. 🤷‍♂️

heres why the death angel in a quiet place dived in the water because it was not super deep so he did not drown but in a quiet place 2 the death angel did drown because his armor was heavey and it was super deep making the death angel drowning to his death

Quiero decir, también parecen estar compuestos en parte de agua. No creo que sea el agua en sí, si no la profundidad o algún componente de esta. No explanation is needed. If Evelyn could walk in that water, it stands to reason this multi meter high alien can also walk in it without drowning, unlike the basement, the sea is deep, the alien didn't have a solid floor for support in this case

Just watched a quite place 3 and I was like 🤔 they survived a space trip but can't survive water.

OK so whenever it goes into the water in the basement it didn’t swim it just walked on the bottom since I didn’t have to breathe it also is easier to walk underwater on the hardwood which is something I can easily grip into rather than the bottom of a lake

i think it definitely will explain this in the NEW upcoming June 28th only out in cinemas a quiet place day one because in the trailer we see joseph quinn and another character swimming in some sort of sewage system which the water is really deep and the death angel is pursuing them hastily

Their planet didn't have water they don't know how or what to do with water so they can walk on it, and they can jump in it and they adapted to all defense speed and senses but not swimming so that's the answer.
