I just came back from the Celebrity Apex where I had a balcony cabin off the back of the ship. I know the smoke stakes leave soot so I wasn’t surprised to see it but the balcony floor was a kinda dirty. Our state room attendant came in our room while we were on our balcony and just over heard me say something to my husband. I commented that the floor was a little dirty in a normal talking voice, not shouting or talking loudly. Our cabin attendant wasn’t even near enough to hear or so I thought. I didn’t really think anything of it and we went on about our day and when we returned our balcony was spotless! It actually shined. We had brand new cushions on our loungers and a towel on each one. The table was sparkly clean and even the balcony door windows seemed cleaner. We were so touched that our hard working steward went out of her way when we hadn’t even asked, we spoke to our concierge to let them know what a great employee they had and of course we tipped her quite well at the end of the cruise.

That lady complaining about the balcony should have cleaned her own fingernails before complaining about anything!!!

I go in to Costco to buy milk, and walk out spending $300. Every. Single. Time. 🤣

And yet some people think it’s okay to drag their mattresses onto those same balconies. 😉

Funny, we use to say "Grody" when in junior high in the 70's.

Just renewed Costco- love it, but, we call it the 400.00 club, go in for dog food and leave with a full basket of everything. Best meat! 😅

Costco (family of 2): rotisserie chicken, fresh seafood and meats, wine, limes for mojitos & margaritas, cleaning products, windshield wipers (when they go on sale), and gas.

Canadian here and a former Costco employee. Best time of day to shop - 4:30 -6 p.m. It's also got great travel deals but I'm sure you don't need that :) The amazon river should be on everyone's bucket list - the wildlife, the scenery are so worth the voyage.

Good advice regarding bringing issues to the attention of the ship's staff while on the cruise. Give them a chance to rectify what they can. Waiting until after the cruise makes your complaint ring hollow.

I love Costco, I used to drive 45 miles past local Sam’s to get to COSTCO. It is fine even for small households of one or two. IM happy for you that you joined!

I'm a Sam's Club member and when I retired I was still going there on weekends. It was packed and almost lost a hand or two when I thought of reaching in for a free sample but the old ladies with the ferocity of wolverines weren't about to miss out on a free bite of salsa with a chip or a 1/16th of a burger. I now understand what an old boss told me about weekends when you retire and it's applicable to the self-employed: Every day is Saturday but Sunday. Sunday is still Sunday. Now I do my shopping on my Saturday which others call Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

Our balcony got dirty on the MSC Seashore a few weeks ago. We asked our cabin attendant to clean it, and lo and behold, we came back and it was clean! It really is that easy

Once someone dropped something from above that landed on the outside glass part of the balcony banister. It looked like poop. I told our room steward about it and he said he wasn't suppose to outside of the balcony, but when we returned to the room it was clean. Turned out it was chocolate cake. We gave him an extra big tip at the end of the cruise.

I remember George Harrison saying Grotty in A Hard Day's Night. After being asked his opinion on some shirts, he said "I wouldn't be seen dead in those -- a dead grotty!"

Here's an idea... Build the Funnel enclosure from non-flammable materials only!!!

Grotty is a fairly common term for gross and dirty in Australia. I love that the feel of the word matches the meaning. It's definitely worth working it into your vocab.

I love COSTCO, but NEVER go without a shopping list, which I really try to stick with. I think the last crowded times to go is either Tuesday or Thursday mornings.

As an American who lives in Europe we do the opposite here in Prague, that Americans do in the USA. Instead of fewer large shopping trips, we go to the farmer's markets on the weekend and maybe once during the week, bakery a few times a week and the butcher once a week. Maybe once a month we go to a super Tesco for household and dry goods.

I'm going through the Panama Canal in April on a 30 day Panama Canal/Alaska cruise on the Carnival Spirit. It's a big bucket list trip.

We were on the Bliss in January through the Panama canal. They washed the balconies in every port. It slowed down our room getting tidied, because it was our steward that did ours. They are not allowed to do it while at sea, because, that's where a lot of the salty spray comes from. We had a notice in our room the night before each cleaning. It's part of their routine.

A comparison study shows Sam's club is cheapest. I go there twice a month.

We are on the April 5 sailing of the Emerald princess from LA to Ft. Lauderdale, including the April 8 solar eclipse! Nothing from Princess so far.

I went an Amazon cruise with Oceania in 2016. It was fascinating.

Costco Travel has amazing deals. Especially on rental cars. Sam’s is stepping up their offerings to better compete with Costco. Trick to Costco is go weekdays after 5 pm.

Am sorry for that stateroom attendant who responsible for the balcony problem for him or her.And to be honest if she had went by guest service the stateroom attendant would still be in trouble.

I have done the Amazon River cruise twice, once this year in March and November 2019. Once on the HA Volendam and the other on the Zaandam. February/March was high water and November/December was low water. The low water cruise was much more adventuresome all the way around. We were stuck on a sandbar for a day and missed a port but were compensated. To hear a captain's voice come in your cabin at 4 in the morning on the pitch dark Amazon is startling, but I must say that there was absolutely no panic but quite a lot of interest. We were quite safe and HA did an excellent job of managing the situation. Getting to ports on the Brazilian tendors was interesting also but fun as the water was so low in November we had interesting challenges getting to land.

As a Costco employee (truck driver) thank you for becoming a member, you’re helping to pay for my next cruise. NEVER EVER GO ON A WEEKEND!! And all Costcos are closed on Easter.

Been a Costco member for at least 20 years and love it! If you get their Visa card you will earn $ back on purchases too. It more than pays for our membership each year. I went to my local Costco (Clearwater FL) on Saturday too, but I stayed in the car and sent hubby in, lol. He grew up in Philadelphia, so a crowd doesn't bother him.

We had a dirty balcony once, let our butler know. It was caused by the rock wall that was a couple decks above us.

Was a Sam's member for a number of years, but since Costco arrived I never looked back. Balconies generally don't get cleaned like the cabins and only get a fresh water wash down weekly. It's a long ō in grody BTW. Love your take on things.

Costco was a HUGE mistake. Every time I go in there to buy ONE thing, I walk out hundreds of dollars later. My cart seems to attract products- I think they put magnets in everything. I don't know how it happens.

Hubby & I cruised through the Panama Canal on March 16th of this year and stayed in Panama City for a couple days. there was a huge area of bay that looked like it was dry for a long time. Fortunately, it didn't affect our Oceania cruise ship, the Celeb Beyond ship, or the enormous tanker we watched go through the locks.

My wife and I (45 & 47) have never been on a cruise, however we love to watch your videos. We might even go on a cruise one day!

Sometimes i think people wait till after their cruise or their vacation to complain because if the organization responsible for their vacation (cruise, hotel, etc.) can fix it during their stay, theres usually no compensation given. If they wait till after and they make a big song and dance about it, the only thing the organization can do is either say "tough luck, you should have reported it", which in itself doesnt look great publicity wise, or they can give compensation for the inconvenience

Thanks for your video - I love to watch your vids. In 2019 on a Panama Canal Cruise with Norwegian Gem we had black/white flakes (coming with wind from a fire within port city) on terrace/balcony/jacuzzi of Deluxe Owner's Suite Haven. We just informed staff and everything was cleaned properly and immediately - despite complete outside area was also cleaned anyway each day of cruise - and the rest of cruise (12 days !!) we were given additional free French Champagne as much as we liked - regardless the Suite perks we already had. In my views the Australian lady was just complaining afterwards for trying to get money back. We paid much more for our Panama Canal cruise, but never thought to complain afterwards. At each of our cruises - no matter which cabin we have - we inform staff directly about inconveniences and they always find a solution.

I was on the Freedom in October 2022 (my first Carnival) when it was without the tail.......it seems to have BTL (Bad Tail Luck)....LOL

I have a Celebrity Cruises Panama Canal cruise set for April, we have not been notified regarding said cruise has been cancelled.

I take a couple travel size Lysol sprays, and a couple travel size Lysol wipes with me when I cruise. As soon as they let you in the cabin, I spray down every commonly touched place in the cabin with spray, I then go onto the balcony with the wipes. Some people think they shouldn't have to do that on vacation. I think I don't want to risk getting sick if I can help it.

Costco only. I did the same thing. Went last Saturday and it was nuts
