About this series, "Texas Declutter"-
Two years ago I started helping my parents declutter and organize their home. Six months after the initial declutter I went back for a second pass and now it's been 1.5 years since I've been there. Your Mom has really embraced the help you gave her. It’s not easy to have someone go through all your personal, daily items and encourage you to change. BUT, you guys nailed it. You have a different perspective for this stage of life. Wonderful and congratulations. Fun video to watch.

I know most of you don't mean anything by it but it's patronizing to refer to older people as "cute." You may mean to be complimentary but it infantalizes them, dismisses their life experiences and subtly suggests that they're less mentally acute. My wife is a nurse and I see this ALL THE TIME with her work friends. Just because someone expresses themselves in folksy sayings instead of the 4 letter words that have become standard conversation doesn't mean they're mentally soft or unfamiliar with the harsh reality of the world.

Your Mum has learned what most of us do regarding decluttering. It's really hard to start, but once you see the benefits of being able to see walls and floors, it gets so much easier to say goodbye to stuff.

Great success, keeping the decluttering and organizing process going! I live in Germany and we have four seasons here, from -15 grade Celsius up to 38 grade Celsius. It stressed me out to change clothes in my wardrobe. With climate change, the temperatures are weird and seasons are less clear. Recently I decided to put all my clothes together. Nothing stored away. It's so much easier and I know much better, what I have! I'm excited to see the next episode 🥰 with your mum and Winston!

Your mom and dad did a great job maintaining and improving on their spaces! Love how they kept the momentum going and moved things around to make their space work even smarter for them. I think it's okay if your mom didn't declutter her last 'Eunice' corner just yet as she didn't stay stagnate and was pausing to test and enjoy the progress. Happy Holidays to you and your family! 😊

Your Mom's home is absolutely beautiful!! Her living room looks so cozy. I love the color she choose in her living room. She's doing a great job keeping everything organized. Just a suggestion, from time to time when your Mom has a chance to look through her stuff to see what else can go. But she's doing a great job keeping everything tidy and organized. Cute dog!

It was such a kick to see your mom host us on camera this time! She was in her element. It was also great to see how she's held the line, made progress and improvements, and generally has been making it all work and truly theirs. You'd both laid a good foundation but she's really made it her own. The sheer number of projects she's accomplished in her now-workable craft room is stunning. I was duly impressed. Wow!! Your parents have done great! Your mom's sewing and craft room was decluttered and organized well so she could finish her projects, she is even donating her projects which is of course so so kind. I know it's tempting to free up more space, but I also learned ive sewing and crafting and it's crucial to have supplies on hand, and I also am so proud of her for finishing all of those pieces and using the sentimental fabric!!! I bet other people need those bags for their walkers!!! That is just such a touching story

I love that you are back at your Mom's helping her declutter. She has done an amazing job keeping up with all the systems you implemented! Love how the tidying has helped her do so many projects now that everything is to hand. Love her new washer and dryer set. My mother's avocado green washer finally died after 30+ years and we had to replace it with a new one.🤣The green dryer is still going strong though! Those things were built to last. So looking forward to this new organizing session.

April, your mom is such a doll!!! I love that she has embraced being on camera - she's a natural! She really seems to love all of the changes you guys worked so hard to accomplish & it quite obviously has allowed your mother's creativity to fly even more being able to have easy access to all of her craft supplies & a nice space to work in! It's so wonderful to see ❣And finally that fabric puppy she made for your friend's daughter in Korea is precious!! I could see her creating those for others people's pets as a business - but I'm sure she could have lots of businesses w/her talents!

Yay! It’s so nice to see your mom properly :) It’s great to see how she’s tweaked some of the solutions you put in place and done so many projects since then. Getting rid of the big exercise bike and chair made so much room for her to have space for herself in the sewing room. What a win!

I feel so proud of your mom! It's so hard to go through things with such emotion behind them and she's embraced all the steps of this process. It inspired me to do deep cleans and keep up with mini declutters throughout the year or when I realize I'm just not using things. Hopefully I can get my mom on this journey one day.

Your mom is so cute!!! I don't know why she didn't want to be on the last videos. Your mom seems like mine. I cleared out 2 drawers and organized them and not a week later she is just throwing stuff in vs putting it in the correct organizer. 😒I think adjusting to organizing is just really hard especially for maximalists, because honestly I think they are organized in their own way and they don't understand more minimalists standards. The more time I try to push my mom to get less, the more I realize that she truly is happy with her stuff and her "mess" and I've just got to accept that.

Still looking and feeling so good - I think I felt most motivated by the fifty projects MamaApril got done since her craft room was put together - that's outstanding!
