Discover the Higashiyama District (東山) of Kyoto and stay at a machiya, indulge in aesthetic cafes and foods, go momiji viewing and enjoy the beautiful autumn colors from a river boat in the Arashiyama (嵐山) area. This was our third trip to Kyoto and we wanted to stay away from the tourist and take it a bit slower than before. We certainly recommend not sticking to the most popular places your entire trip and taking time to breathe in the surroundings - Kyoto is filled with beauty in every corner.
