On May 30th 1993. Norfolk and Western Class J #611 ran an excursion on the former Southern Railway between Asheville NC & Hayne Yd near Spartanburg SC, Come along and ride with us.
At 4.7% The Saluda Grade is the steepest mainline railway grade in the United States. The grade has been out of service since 2001 and has recently been sold to become a biking trail.
