Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain were the best in my opinion !! I love Assos shorts been wearing them since the 80's. They were the Rolex watch of shorts and most $$$!!

Thanks so much for publishing this interview with these cycling legends - it's good to see how Hinault has mellowed and gave Joop his dues here. What a fantastic group they are indeed.

@@DaleRC75 You know, I'm going to let BH off with that one! Think about his mentality - he won everything that he ever wanted to - now imagine you're him and in your LAST TdF - you're going to rip the legs off of everyone if you can - and he did! Yup, it wasn't fair but Greg came out of it like a proper champ, not a wheel hanger. :@)

What a great video, thanks for uploading this. I would love to sit down with Indurain, enjoy a coffee and ask him question upon question about when he raced. A room full of legends.

Most of his big victories came on the track, where he was both points and keirin world champ multiple times. On the road he focused more on the Giro than the Tour.

They should ask Indurain, how, after getting dropped every year on Alp d'Huez by 5-20 minutes...suddenly in 1991 he was at the front and winning.....just at the same time EPO came into use. HOW? Indurain was a joke as a GC rider every year...89,87,88,89,90...then suddenly he is champion? HOW? How did he get dropped by Hinault and Lemond by 5, 10, 15 minutes....and then in 1991-1995...he is at the front. How come he never cracked 49 minutes on Alp d'Huez pre EPO...and in 1995 he rode in in 38 minutes! 23% faster? It is a damned joke.

Irrelevant arguments since Indurain worked as domestique for Delgado from 85 to 90. If anything in 90 TDF, still pre EPO except for Bugno and Chiappucci Big Mig did well and should be top 3 with LeMond and Breukink. He would made to Alpe d huez in 90 on top 5 if it was not waiting for Delgado. Not saying Big Mig was clean, 92-96 he definitely went high octane doping but he was the right champ along with Pantani and Ullrich

@@akl192 I disagree; Indurain is simply too heavy to survive the mountains without oxygen vector doping. If he were born 10 years earlier I doubt he'd be a contender for a single tour, much less win one! It's hard to say who would have been the dominant cyclist of the 90s without EPO as it was so transformative.

shooter7a it is a bit odd how right at the very beginning of the EPO era Indurain started winning ITT's by 3 & 5 minutes over the best riders in the world.... I mean Jesus God the Tours he won were completed demolition shows and none were ever even close

@@akl192 Not really irrelevant when you factor in that the field was slower/weaker in the 80's before EPO hit the Peloton. Even as a domestique Indurain had chances to shine, someone capable of winning in the early 90's clean would have had stages & Time Trials where he just slaughtered the entire field. He would have been easily marked as an elite rider that could win the TDF within 1-2 seasons, but that never happened. Its weird because every serious cyclist knows that he doped beyond any reasonable doubt but I don't believe he will ever get busted.

It is what it is. Whats done is done. For most of these guys, it was long ago. They have to look themselves in the mirror. We need to deal with now! If you don’t like it, don’t participate, don’t buy anything, don’t watch anything. Anywhere money is involved there will be corruption. It stinks, I know, but thats reality. Many People are far too emotionally involved and invested in sports, their heroes and celebrities, entertainment. The amount of money involved is disgusting. If you really love sports or whatever, grow it, help children, young people and the next generation. Make a change for the better. The only thing we can do as consumers that has any impact is to not participate in any way and to convince others to do so. Boycotting has made a decent impact on the NFL. They feel that bottom line! I feel this way about all pro sports, endorsements, sponsors, politics etc. My boycott list gets longer and longer! I refuse to be involved in anything thats against my principles!
