Luxembourg in 1992 was truly frightening. I remember reading the stage details in Velo News that year. He was so far above the rest. Putting LeMond over 4 minutes behind him was particularly shocking...especially since they were separated by a mere eight seconds at Alencon in 1991. No way in hell was LeMond going to win '92 after the beatdown at Luxembourg. It was simply...OVER. Same thing happened at Bergerac in '94...and Lac de Madine in '93. Only Rominger was able to upset him in a long TT between 92 and 94.

"Best time trialist of all time"? Yes, that's true! In my book that makes him the co-GOAT with Merckx. Recent tours and the upcoming one have had very few individual TTs. In fact, it looks like this year's will have only one. As far as I'm concerned the TT is the real test of who's the greatest rider. In my ideal world, there would be at least 7 in each TDF and they alone would be used to decide the individual winner. The other stages, with all of their little strategic and tactical games, would only be for deciding a winning team.
