yep! I have one a lot like it, the balls always come out super easy to be cleaned and they are weighted interestingly so they are really fun to roll around in your hand. Fidgeting with them is a fairly common thing if you use a ball mouse. They are also often called a "stationary mouse"

I like to imagine that the hunter awoke during the events of the other three movies, but just sort of stumbled around failing to find any of the other characters or make any impact on the plot.
@DavidMyrmidon
@DavidMyrmidon 4 жыл бұрын
I always thought the Hunter was sort of Temporary "Protocol", for if The Final wish were ever to be granted. They would be triggered and sent to kill The Wisher and Djinn before their wish is fulfilled. But thinking back on it now.. it was just a stupid plot-point. But still my favourite in The Series. =D
@LucianDevine
@LucianDevine 2 жыл бұрын
@@DavidMyrmidon Maybe less of the wish being granted and more of the wish being made. He is then summoned, conjured, or whatever we want to call it, and his mission is to kill the wisher before it can be granted. The hunter just wasn't needed during the previous scenarios, because the 3rd wish, or actions before it, subdued the Djinn, making his presence unnecessary.
@tionodese8110
@tionodese8110 2 жыл бұрын
@@LucianDevine it kiiiiinda makes sense, except the fact that most wishes can be granted instantly so a guy with a sword spawning somewhere that isn't directly behind the djinn would be pretty ineffective except in the specific circumstances that occurred in this movie, in which he was still pretty ineffective.
@LucianDevine
@LucianDevine 2 жыл бұрын
@@tionodese8110 Yeah, it is definitely contrived and stupid, but that's about the only explanation for why we would see The Hunter now and in none of the other movies. It could just be a weird contingency specifically for situations like this, when a wish can be made but not granted immediately.
@tionodese8110
@tionodese8110 2 жыл бұрын
@@LucianDevine I guess another semi-adequate explanation would be like, maybe the awakening of the hunter was a clock he's been racing to beat since the first movie, like, the hunter was always going to awake on that day, at that time, but he was hoping he could just free the other djinn before that ever happened. though, that, like any other explaination, would make more sense if the hunter was after HIM by default and not the wisher... actually just in general, why is the hunter going after some human, specifically with a sword capable of killing a djinn?

For what it's worth, the "three wishes" doesn't originally come from "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp," but from "The Fisherman and the Jinni." The story of Aladdin got the "three wishes" treatment from Hollywood around 1940 in The Theif of Bagdad, which was an amalgamation of a bunch of the elements from the 1001 Nights stories, and now genies have been granting three wishes ever since and we're stuck with that trope.
@JoelRiter

Funny enough, the real Ghostbusters, as the original two/three seasons are actually quite amazing and do a wonderful job of explaining folklore and mythology to kids but yet somehow able to use technobabble to explain how it's possible in a scientific way, actually explain that djinns are elemental demons and not genies like people tend to believe.

I have 3 different mice I use for gaming, you want different ones with different games. A trackball mouse is really good for RTS games, or other games where you have to move a LOT in consistent distances, but don't need a lot of snap precision aiming. You want a high sensitivity mouse for something like an FPS, and a low sensitivity precision mouse with a comfort grip for something like an MMO. A trackball / stationary mouse is great to have as an option, but is not that great for certain games like FPS. Except "chaotic" FPS games like L4D2 where you don't need precision aiming.

Funny scene re-write idea: So instead of the weird sex death that the coworker gets, she still does the bit of candidly describing the rough sex that she wants to have, and at first you think that the djinn is going to kill her. But because she's Lisa's friend and the djinn is genuinely grateful for the advice on how to win her affection, he decides to do her a solid, conjures a dominatrix right outside her door, and casually leaves her home without twisting the wish against her. The scene ends with the dominatrix looking around confused until she and Lisa make eye contact, and then give each other a look that's somewhere between "love at first sight" and "awww yeeaah..."

Fun fact: Aladdin was actually made up by the french translator for Arabian Nights! So was Sinbad and Ali-Baba. Which is sad, because the OG stories that are in the translation that I read (which is more modern and based off the original 14th century manuscript) has a bit where a merchant visits a dude and each of his incredibly hot wives screw him. There's no real twist, he just gets laid. Also, there's a king who has been turned into stone and his people have been turned into fish by an evil witch, who is also his wife! And the good guy has to trick the witch into reversing the spell. Also, there was a djinn in a bottle. It was a fun book.

We just wanted to drop in and say thank you for doing this series. Of our duo, Lies is the only one who has seen these movies. It has been really lovely to share the series with Scandal, both as it owns and does not own, without having to make them sit through all the movies. Hahaha Lies wishes you had mentioned the film expositing the confirmation that Sam was able to walk but his injuries hadn't been healed (more solid storytelling), and the four extra monster arms during the djinn sex scene (seems noteworthy...). Edit: We completely forgot to mention how excellent it was that you took a moment, when addressing the ever important question of djinn being able to do the do, to acknowledge that it need not be boiled down to standard heteronormative expectations. Nice addition. 👌🏼

One little folklore quibble: The original Aladdin story in The 1,001 Nights did not specify that three wishes was the limit. That element, near as I can tell, is exclusive to the Disney adaptation of the folk tale. The original Aladdin was able to make as many wishes from both djinn (there were two, the djinn of the ring and the more powerful djinn of the lamp) as he desired, except for one time when he was convinced by the evil sorcerer (which there were ALSO two of, they were brothers) to wish for a roc's egg, which MAJORLY pissed the genie of the lamp off, and he only spared Aladdin's life because the wish wasn't his idea.

I'll defend Sam's two-cup coffee pouring. If you just brewed your coffee and it's too hot to drink immediately, you can cool it down more quickly by pouring it into one cup and then transferring it to another, since the cups are cooler than the coffee. Sam still sucks, but that makes some degree of sense. Fun fact: people used to pour coffee from their cups into saucers to cool them. The saucer's wide surface area helped to cool the coffee.

Holy fuck. Filmed in Winnipeg? Dude, I *really* felt something familiar in that amazing Djinn/Bouncer fight scene. Like, deep in my bones. Soon as you said the filming location, I knew that was the iconic back alley behind The Pal/Whiskey Dix Nightclub in the Exchange District. Instantly. It's not just the world's sketchiest smoking section, it's also a city landmark, and home of a continuously rebuilding human birds nest of used Heroin needles. It rules. I worked in the district doing cleanup, and would go to that exact alley every day for graffiti & garbage removal. The scene where the Djinn yeets the bouncer into the dumpster?? It invaded my mind zone, because I'd gone to that exact place and done that same action for 2 full years of my life. I have killed 730 bouncers. All of them were wearing a flame shirt, also.

Trackballs had to retain the ball 5 miles uphill in the snow both ways back then.

Scardy Cats> why does the trackball come out of the socket?! Some do, some don't. Trackballs are essentially just upside-down ball-mice, so you have to occasionally clean the rollers. Having the ball easily removable makes that easier. But this one looks like it was a fancy Apple-style iTrackball type thing that was designed for looks and novelty.

I liked them all for what they are. The original stuck with me as I saw it when I was young, but Divoff is such a gifted actor, but I genuinely liked all of them for the simple fact that he made the Jinn very Kruger. Funny an a smartass, but at the same time, gory, intimidating, and with incredible presence. Dudes a horror icon from where I’m stood. Furthermore, the question of the coworker is dead nuts right, an any man who’s ever spoken to a female, there is no safe answer. That is a trap. Plain and simple. Ambush. Do not answer.

I don't know why you'd think that we don't want more wishmaster content. I'd be happy for this to become wishycats, an exclusively wishmaster themed channel.

Well since Sam couldn't lift the sword, and that limitation remains regardless of who is welding it, when the authorities remove the murder weapon the fact nobody can lift the thing would definitely help her legal defense that she didn't murder him. Also her fingerprints wouldn't be on the handle would also be a solid defense, regardless of how suspicious the circumstances of his death are with the whole millions of dollars awarding thing, which would be understandably extremely suspicious.

The thing at 6:38 that they're focusing on for a long time for no reason is a trackball, which may look like a historical contraption but which, like Ahura Mazda, is still celebrated by people even unto this day, including myself! People use 'em instead of mouses because they don't give you carpal tunnel syndrome as bad. Also, it kind of feels like you're playing Tron or Centipede.

That weird ball in the office is a mouse for the computer. You roll the ball around and the mouse follows, I don't know why you can just take it away like that.
