Scaredy Matt's enthusiasm for these movies is so infectious that even though I don't love horror I keep watching all of these videos.

Sometimes we must taste the mustard that lives inside us all.

Reggie = Bruce Campbell of Phantasm. After Tallman, he's the most important character.

I feel like Mike being passively ok with a lot of plot developments and inconsistencies in the film is its attempt to continue with the dreamlike feeling of the first film.

They could have gone with "You'll be paralyzed with SPHERE!" for the tagline...

Honestly by the time you got to the end I was like "wonder if Alchemy is just a weird zombie who's on their side for some reason"

The Robocop and "Ashes" riffs were top notch. When I was younger and the top pc-based games were stuff like Space Quest, I thought this would be an excellent candidate for adaptation. As it is, this movie is pure fun and I eagerly await the memoirs from the creators of Supernatural where they admit it gave them the impetus for the continuing Adventures of Sam and Dean and a groovy car.

The Tallman's temple wound in the last scene seems to roughly match Alchemy's, implying he's been getting up to his lady-impersonating tricks this whole film as well.

"buckle up, because it only gets weirder from here" Now there's an understatement! The Phantasm series redefines "weird" from the ground up. You don't know weird until you've experienced the spiraling descent into lore insanity that is the Phantasm sequels

I can buy into this series being summer. Everyone seems sweaty, there's heat lines, and the lighting has that vibe.

I'd love to see a Robocop/Phantasm crossover.

I remember watching Phantasm marathons on the Sci-Fi channel in the 90s..... I've seen and love all of these....things that could possibly be described as a movie franchise. Damn I'm old. Pretty sure they'd do the marathons during summer break so the evidence is piling up! =) Another insane forgotten gem from the "beforetimes" is "Cemetery Man."

I got the Blu Ray of this movie. Excellent director commentary. The gold sphere don't mess around.

You know when you have a dream that's supet vivid, and you really feel it, and it kind of sticks with you the next day? Like you have a dream that your partner sleeps with someone else, and you're sort of irrationally angry at them the next morning, even though you KNOW nothing actually happened? That kind of feels like the attitude toward continuity in these movies.

Something neat: Father Meyers is played by Kenneth Tigar. He has a Ph.D in German literature from Harvard. Remember that old guy in Avengers who defiantly tells Loki "there are always men like you"? Well that guy is used to dealing with tall aliens mucking up the place :)

Seriously, I found out about D&D and had to cobble reports and adventures together from no money in 79'. I didn't stop obsessing until I got my own D&D books in 81'. NO CHILL. I missed the Phantasm franchise accordingly. Real shame, I like "Warlock" and this seems pretty similar.

Between this series and Wishmaster it's like you're plugged into the horror movies I saw on TV as a child/adolescent that imprinted themselves on my brain. Or we're of similar age and we just had the same weird movies imprinted on our brain. Either way I'm enjoying this series enormously! 2020 is just gonna have a bad summer (and bad fall, spring, etc, basically it's going to suck until the pandemic passes) so little things like this go a long way to making me happy through it.

I watched Phantasm today and now I HAVE TO see Phantasm 2. Then, obviously, the rest of the franchise will follow. Productivity be damned.
