Well, after a little over a year. I've managed to actually get the 1917 Bowie, the plain AND serrated (stone washed) Marauder's. Did some mods on the Marauder sheaths and I have to say... I'm very pleased! Now, I still have some work for Tom Veff, he's already done my G-10 Espada and my Otanashi Noh Ken but, there's more to go! And it all started with this video right here... :)

Well I am as pleased as punch to hear that. Mr. Veff does some fine work. I’ve stopped by his place in Oregon a couple of times. Not only brought things for him to do but bought some of the customs that he’s done directly from him. I appreciate his workmanship and attention to detail.

OMG... I'm in LOVE!!! But their YOURS... You have taken already perfectly badass knives and turned them into BADASS KNIVES!!! Just got my Marauder and getting my 1917 tomorrow! Needless to say, you've definitely given me some ideas! You're knives are EXCELLENT btw!!! 💙

Yes the Cold Steel Wild West Bowie, is a good looking knife. But I have the original Western W49, in my collection :) It too has gone on many a hiking and camping trip. I've never used it, because I've never had to fight a bear or mountain lion :) Got my W49, back in 85, when I worked in Yellowstone. Its dated to have been made in 84, so still made in Colorado. Happy Days :)

Now mind you that Veff serrations can elicit strong emotions in both the for and against camps. I like them, not looking to baton the knife through wood or anything like that but I do like them for the wow factor.

I have never seen before that amazing modify of Marauder, its so impressive... How You did that sign of skull? A lot of details there at small surface

FYI, if you do not know if a knife is full tang or not. Get some good strong magnets and use those to check your knife. Also, for blueing hard steel. You want to use Birchwood Casey Super Blue. Made for hardened steel. I keep a bottle handy for touching up some of my knives that are blued.

I’ve have had some success with birch wood Casey bluing. I like to use the paste. The marauders were a challenge

My 1917 Frontier came dull. I don't mean dull as in the edge was ground to a point, but not cutting. I mean dull as in the place where the edge should have been was a flat surface LOL. Still love it though, but I have to wait until I get better tools before I can fix it :/.

Or, you can send it out to Veff. He does excellent work. I did get the new worksharp for Christmas but I haven’t used it yet.

Yes, Windlass steel craft of India. Does make a decent blade. I.E. the 1917 Frontier Bowie, But they are not the best at sharpening. Plus be very careful who you buy from. As for sharpening. The Ken Onion Work Sharp with Grinding attachment, is a must. I have both and they do a great job.

Boowie is how it’s properly pronounced that’s how Jim (I think that’s his name) Bowie said it and it’s his name.

What is cold bluing? It looks like maybe it’s a less tarnishable form of bluing maybe?

Cold Blueing refers to the fact you do not need heat. Birchwood Casey makes two different types of blueing liquid. I have used both, and they are both good.
