I love the colour of that version of die cut machine. I wanted the teal big shot for years and finally found one a few weeks ago. My daughter wasn't impressed, she said she loved the blue and black one "because she grew up with it" 😂 Bless her, luckily she's over it xxx

Even after I cut my dies that closely, I still have sharp bits left. I use an acrylic nail file to buff off, and nothing bites me after that. TFS.

Hey, remember me? Seems like forever! I’m glad to see the matte silver. I did just buy some but still nice to see this one. I almost bought it. It’s nice. Also I want to tell you that as far as plates go, I’m in love with the chrome precision plate from sizzix! Girl I don’t understand why there aren’t videos all over KZfaq about this plate. Every card maker should have one. It doesn’t warp and more importantly, it doesn’t get cut into!!!!! I don’t know yet how it will work, but I bought a second one to use for the top plate too!!!! If you tape down your die you don’t need to see it! A trick I heard also for preventing marks in your metallic or foil cardstock where you don’t cut, is place a sheet of copy paper ontop of the cut up plate everywhere except where you’re cutting. It works because I tried it. I’ll keep you updated on the 2 precision plates but you’re down right crazy not to try one they are unbelievable! Amazon has them for $26 as opposed to stamp stores at $44 each.

@@czdesign it’s an actual plate! By sizzix. And the one I bought 2 different times on Amazon is from sizzix. Some stamp or craft place sells it but since Amazon ships it easy returns. And just today I finally got in my stamp room and really gave it a good try with both plates. The pressure from the switch really bends plates badly and only half way across and no matter what I could not get it straight. So my idea today worked fabulously! I wish I could do a KZfaq video and tell ppl to try it. You’ll have to for me if you try it! The chrome precision base plate is ontop of the big platform, the adapter then the chrome. I added the other chrome upside down so chrome to chrome with die and cardstock in between. I did find after many runs it started to even put a slight bend in the chrome plate. So I avoid this by simply rotating the top for the bottom every couple times! It’s so nice not to have those deep cuts that hold colored cardstock and make a mess out of metallic and foil! Please try it. I can’t see why it wouldn’t work in the Gemini too but you may have to fuss with a shim. But I actually use one less because of these plates and they cut through so beautifully! You must tell me if you try it. And undu is the greatest stuff for the entire house. Like when stores put stickers on acrylic! Goof off has its place, but I use undu for tons! All the Bible mailers you get, you can pull those labels right off and reuse the mailer! Recycle! Lol Nice to hear from you. Check it out give me the official verdict!

Ohhhh Cathy - the glorious eyecandy in this card!!! 🤩❤️❣️ I love the simplicity of it and the sparkle contains all the pleasure. I love the *merry* you designed - perfect for mass producing holiday cards too! 😍❤️ Goodness, I am glad to know that I'm not the only one with transferred impressions from dies on the top plates - and what's worse is that I always keep one plate for top use only. Both my Sizzix Switch and my Altenew Mini loss on are terrible about that and I've had to put a cardstock "shim" between the die and the top plates to protect the cardstock I'm cutting on. It's especially sad with metallic card stock and makes me cry. 😭

I feel like my Gemini sandwhich (two clear plates, two double sided die plates) is literally the best for this, as I only cut into ONE side every time. But I don't know how to emboss yet with my Gemini. I will practice!

@@czdesign It’s interesting that the Gemini, being electronic too, doesn’t do that. The Switch puts such extreme pressure on the dies which then transfers the impression onto that top plate so no matter if it’s a new plate, it will end up textured from that eventually and at roughly $35 for a new set of plates, it’s not something I want to replace every few weeks - you know?

I always save one of my Spellbinders cutting plates as a "do not cut" plate to prevent those marks from messing up my die cuts. I forget who recommended this, but someone advised getting a colored or sparkly plate to use as a "do not cut" plate for Spellbinders or Sizzix machines to help remind you which one is which.

The card is beautiful, but had you considered using a medium icy blue or a deep burgundy color for the cloud around Merry. The those 2 colors would really make the silver below and above them Pop out at you.

Love this concept! I'm in the research phase of card marking (haven't made anything yet but am itching to try!). You said something in the video about preferring the Gemini over the Spellbinder for cutting out "merry". Would you mind elaborating on that a little more? I think I want a dual purpose machine that will cut and emboss (like the Spellbinder or Big Shot), but your experience with the circles showing when you cut the "merry" die on the Spellbinder made me wonder if I should rethink that. Thanks so much!!

Well, i think the difference is in my plate set up. On my Gemini, I always cut into the same plate and have the top plate clean. However, that should NOT affect the look of the die cut. This only really happens to me on my Spellbinders with metallic cardstock. The Gemini is great for people like me with wrist issues, but it's a great machine in general. However, I don't know how to successfully use embossing folders on it. I need to do some experimenting. Gemini is my favorite electric (also the only one I've ever used, as I hear people really thing the Anna Griffin Empress is fabulous!) And Spellbinders is my favorite manual. You can emboss with a Gemini, but as I said, I have not figured it out yet, so I keep using my Spellbinders.

@@czdesign , thank you so much! I hadn't even considered wrist issues. I have a manual Accuquilt and know my arm and hand get tired when I cut a lot of fabric. Sounds like I'll just need to be mindful of plates and metallic cardstock. I'm far from there yet but will definitely keep that in mind. Thank you again for your help. This is beautiful! Is there a reason you used the manual machine for this folder as opposed to you regular automatic machine? I know from the video that the die cut merry looks better from the Gemini, bbut is there a reason not to use the Gemini for the folder?

Yes! I still have not figured out the best way to use embossing folders on my Gemini. Some kind crafter sent me a list of options to try and I tried a few that did not work! lol. So… i need to figure it out!
