In part one of the 'wortheffort' "Back Yard Makeover" we tackle an easy to build fence. In this case to enclose a garden and double as a dog run. The style is common in our area for more modern yard aesthetics. It utilizes welded wire, 2x4's, 4x4's and simple hardware. We merged all these supplies into a frame and panel fence design that is easily doable with basic hand/power tools such as a circular saw and drill. Yes we did utilize other tools but those were unique to our situation, goals and location in the Texas Hill Country and limestone soil but other simple solutions are available.
This is an easily doable project for a beginner woodworker, craftsperson or DIY enthusiast that won't break the bank for the results you get.

Sounds like where I live in Texas. :p Deer have always been here as long as I have... Mountain lions moved back to the area several years ago. I still have my regular fence and so far so good as far as the lions go... I have two dogs. Well really 1 and 1/4 since one is a Border Collie and the other is a chihuahua. They are mostly outside as they like it that way and no issues so far. I also have cats that come in or out as they please and no issues there either. You ain't kidding about wood being expensive right now. I just had to redo the floor in my main bathroom from water damage stemming from the Snowpocalypse. I bought 3/4 plywood as close to marine grade as I could get locally. Also 2x4's etc. and I was amazed by the prices but I had to do this. Bathroom is done with new vinyl floor tile, new vanity, sink and faucet as well as a new sturdy floor. I am so happy. :D Next step is the tub which I think I will just remove as I only shower. Looking to make my own custom shower pan with epoxy resin to put in the tub's place. :D Probably going to need more plywood for that to replace the floor there as well. Also thinking will have to replace the walls around the shower too as with the tub gone there will be a gap. Good thing I love DIY and fixing things. :D The end result of that fence is great. It looks really nice! I would just stain it rather than paint it but then I love the look of natural wood. :D Thanks for sharing this. Going to save it for later also as I may build a fence like that soon when I move. Way too many people now near my house of 20+ years so I want many acres full of trees. :D - Heidi

Joining the corners would've added a lot of stability, which was sacrificed for making the ends removable. Good example of trade offs. Anyway, nice looking fence. Thanks for the video.

9:57 this kind of fence with uneven spaces is meant to be "small spaces bottom, large spaces top" because small animals are more likely to be on the ground trying to sneak through. Hope you get the picture. Love your Videos, greetings from Vienna/Austria

Your wire panels are installed upside down. The smaller mesh goes down. Using the excuse that you were matching the existing fence, lame. Do it right and don't justify the error in the original fence or your lack of standards. My guess is that you have no clue as to the correct way until someone posted it. Typical your tuber.
