I find the subjects in these videos often just sit still and let the voice over do all the work, but I really liked how you indicated what was happening with your hands, for example, where the rim light was going and the Rembrandt effect. Makes it so much clearer. Great work!

Very interesting light indeed, a bit worried about the hot spot of the light this size but It seems good. This year we gonna film lots of projects/specs, so I'll maybe try this one. Last year we released a short film got to film festivals, and lots of views on YT. We just gotta believe in ourselves. Happy New Year, с Новым Годом тебя!🎄

this is so funny, but you are an actual artist, love the lighting the mood and choices of dark and light and color contrast that is almost on the warm tone but with enough cold and dark that makes it captivating... definitely talented lol

4:41 this shoots needs negative fill to remove the light from the wall behind the lamp and create a gradient going from the right side of the frame to the left.

This is a great video and you clearly know your stuff. Just curious why the footage was so noisy @ 4:30? The scene is beautiful and I want to try and do the same. Just wondering what mistake was made to create all the noise so I don't make the same mistake. Thanks!

Every time I start watching those "cinematography videos" two things are happening - I feel like I'm going crazy and i think that all filmmakers are nuts.

Good afternoon sir. I recently found your channel and wanted to say thanks for being a great source of inspiration for beginners like me. Last night I was coincidentally filming myself in dark room using only keylight and backlight and added some teal light to create teal/orange look. I was experimenting with their rotoAI tool for creating more separation. I found out by adding a tiny amount of film grain to the background can create better separation imho. What caught my eye was film grain that you added in some parts of this video, it looks a bit different compared to noise from camera. Please correct me If I'm wrong, I'm still learning and training my eyes and would like to hear some feedback from you. I do apologize if I bothered you with my comment. Thank you

Hi! First of all I'm glad you're exercising in your down time. So many people just binge watch these things and don't practice. As to your question: yes it is film grain and it is indeed very different from digital noise due to it's structure. You can research the difference on youtube. But you can also try adding film grain in DaVinci Resolve and if you zoom into it, you will notice that it's typically a lot less blocky and less saturated than digital noise.

Nur, thank you for replying to my comment. It does mean a lot to me. For some I didn't mention above that I'm using FinalCut and RotoAI is plugin for MotionVFX. I'm planning to move to Davinci by the end of this year as it has more color grading capabilities compared to FinalCut and overall is better editing app. Speaking of film grain, in FinalCut we have only 2 options IMovie/Realistic grain. IMovie grain destroys colors of an image and realistic is great, but no way near as what DaVinci offers. I tried to eyeball what grain you were using at 4:30, for me it looks like 35mm at opacity 0.7-0.9, sorry if I'm wrong. I have 0 experience in DaVinci and it's hard to guess when looking at compressed youtube video. I also would like to thank you for sharing your experience with us and showing me reality and examples how to start. I'm currently building a portfolio for my "filmmaking" career. Offering to shoot a video for people or businesses at a low cost or for free and showing them what I already have done and what can be achieved. You helped me a lot,maybe I don't know you personally, but every time I watch your videos it feels like you are my good old friend, maybe because both of us are from CIS "СНГ" countries . I will Keep watching and supporting your channel as much as I can. Thank you for prioritizing ideology/vision over the money. Sincerely Yuri.

@@nur-niaz how is z-cam’s image quality compared to sony/lumix? And is z-cam easy for beginners
@nur-niaz
@nur-niaz 7 ай бұрын
Depends on what model sony / lumix. I used to have a gh5s , a6300, a7s2 way back in a day. I like that Z-cam's ProRes is super easy to work with. And the form factor is a box basically. It's nice rigging it up or down depending on the needs. The interchangable lens mount lets me use it as EF/MFT/PL which is also handy. The image quality is not as good as something you get in a Komodo, but imo better than most Blackmagic cameras@@raman139
