Well done, Tom. Always enjoy, good for muscle memory and flow vision between work calls. “When you can’t ski, watch the one who can” 😉👍

Its funny to me seeing moguls as a subdiscipline from skiing, while in Poland every track in the morning is fresh and even and at around 2pm its all moguls

I don’t like to make those big S turns across the slope from tree to tree. I worry the beginner behind me has nowhere to go if I hog the entire width of the run and I will cause a crash. I limit myself to about a 20’ wide swath of run (15 years of ski patrolling)

Yeah if its busy like when i ski in Australia i do the same. But if youre up early and have the slope to yourself like i do in these videos its a great feeling to carve a long radius turn on a ski like i have here. Today I made not a single medium radius turn. All short turns in about the size of a cat track or less. You wouldn’t tell a GS skier, A super G skier nor a downhill skier to make short turns for training…..how else you going to practice a long turn. And finally the ones i take up a lot of the slope are actually an exercise called a retraction extension turn. Again no on on the slope so it was perfect to practice this drill

Nice vid, can’t say I find the low rider stance looks ‘natural’ or relaxed though.
@Bigpictureskiing
@Bigpictureskiing 2 жыл бұрын
It’s not natural but if you want to ski like an athlete and get more performance then what you need to do. I like carving and bumps so I practice this stance a lot . In fact makes skiing steeper more difficult terrain easier and more fun IMO

The good stuff: 1- Your head is leading the turn.. 2- You've mastered the consciousness of foot pressure.. That's why you are so fluid in your turns.. (I think is is the most important thing to learn when you want to ski..) hope you teach that... so important 3- Your ski boots are set to allow your ankles to flex freely 4- Great moguls run .. (you are probably a tall guy as you get around without getting on the palm of your feet on the downside of the moguls) 5- Don't stop teaching From me to you: Eyes, tits, hips, knees and feet should be parallel in the turn, no one should seek going downhill.. A funny thing to try: drop the upper knee inside the turn so the upper femur gets parallel to the downhill femur .. You will have a better balance of pressure on yours skis ( in your video all the snow is release from the back of your skis) Has you are already a great skier this is only fine tuning J

stop the frame at 0.55, ....Your stance is VERY static....not dynamic, yes you have nice weight transfer through your feet and edge transfer but look at the frame ...you are squatting and STUCK in the back seat!..like wise your 178cm skis probably manage a radius of around 16m or so, yet you take up the entire slope by traversing across a large portion of the slope with out working the skis...Flow, be dynamic, push and drive the skis at all times and every mm of the way and your skiing will look much more commanding.
