House Of The Dragon Season 2 Episode 1: A son for a son is now out. Like any adaption the show of course is different from the book Fire and Blood. While things like Blood and Cheese, Harrenhal, King's Landing were mostly the same, all be it with minor changes, there were some things that were in fact very different from Fire and Blood such as Jaces time in the north where he did not go to the wall with Cregan Stark. In this video i will break down and tell the story of A Son For A Son's book lore.

The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

This was meant to go live right after the episode but i had to cut the harrenhal section out as i thought maybe it would be in episode 1. Review coming in the next day or two, need time to process how i feel. It was a good episode just Blood and Cheese didn't land too well for me, it was good, the actual build up and how they showed the murder worked really well. Will go into detail in the review. But as my girlfriend pointed out to me, when a dog getting kicked makes you feel some emotion than child murder, something hasn't clicked. But there was lots of good in the episode, some okay stuff and some interesting creative choices to put it kindly. Was planning to do the review tonight but need some time to think.

I don’t know if my expectations were just too high but, the Blood and Cheese scene didn’t hit the same like the book version did in my opinion!

For me, it’s not that I disliked the scene. It was still a great scene, but I would’ve LOVED to have heard the lines from the lore on screen and see on screen how it went down in the lore

@@chathanvemuri2625 Okay but in the books it was way more gruesome and terrifying. It’s actually difficult to argue with this statement because hardly any emotion was shown by Helaena, who was deeply traumatized by this in the books. Also they cut out completely the moment where it’s said “hear that boy, your momma wants you dead”. I could go on and on.

I Agree somewhat. It was still disturbing. But the way that the book just makes her choose between her sons was cold blooded and cruel. Absolutely made me feel sorry for Haleaena, Jaehaera, and Maelor the rest of the Dance.

Thanks. I know the Blood and Cheese scene was not as impactful as it could have been, but it was still quite disturbing. This episode had me almost tearing up in some parts.

I absolutely hated the Alicole stuff. It is ooc for both of them. Liked Aegon and Aemond though. Also, the way they wrote it, it's pretty much Alicents fault for her grandson being killed since she pulled Cole away from his post.

Not the implication at all I don't think, he was Alicent's sworn protector and a kingsguard, his priorities are 1. The King, 2. Alicent Hightower. He is not the protector of the entire Targaryen bloodline at all times. Not to mention, if it is his fault, where are the other Kingsguard and other security in the palace? Its just as much their fault if it is Cole's. They just included the Alicent and Cole banging scene to further the depth of their relationship in-story. Earlier she told him "never again" and he said yeah of course. And they are banging again that night. So it is a shameful relationship, they both know it, but they keep doing it. It's actually quite a brilliant piece of character work in the show to pack all that into about one minute of cumulative screentime.

in the book Helaenas 3 kids are there (2 sons 1 daughter) and she has to choose between Maelor and Jaehaerys. She chooses maleor but they kill Jaehaerys. In the show Maelor isn't there but the outcome is the same with Jaehaerys dying

@verm7912 thnks for the clarification. I got confused, and for some reason, thought Melor died in the books. I'm watching HoD the same way I watched GoT. With no book knowledge and few expectations. I'm loving it so far and it feels like a return to seasons 1-4 of GoT (the good ones imo). No spoilers, please, but based on the show so far, I want the Greens to win, but I think the Blacks will actually win.

6:02 looks like the Targaryen weren't too great about honoring marriage promises to the North 8:19.....seems like they were kinda of forgetting something, like a war for example.

They went soft.And that is hard to appreciate. They didn't even need to show us his head. Pretty sure a shadowed sihoutte would've gotten the point across just fine while still keeping the essential characters in the scene in place.

Loved to see the young wolf with ice on his back & the fact that it opened up the episode was great !!! The way they handled blood & cheese was bloody good!!! Kept it brutal but not over the top!!! Which maester was in the room recording shit?.this drives home the banality of evil. The book version was nothing cartoonish sadism. Brutality for the sake of it. This was more practical and straightforward. What they wanted was a d&d style heavy handed shock value bloodlust & gore to score sympathy points for your sports team...instead got an actual bleak, mellow, creeping horror tragedy. Which is what I always wanted from asoiaf. The more purists cope, the more I know it was good.

How exactly is it bad? They didn’t show a child being murdered like how you wanted it? The episode was great and just because that single part was not the bestest best thing doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world.

@@herbthompson8937 first off the fire and blood book is written by accounts of people who weren’t even alive at the time so the whole idea that it has to be accurate is ridiculous. Daemon also never told them what to do if they couldn’t find aemond so he probably told them to kill one of Helena’s kids but the maesters never found that part out
