Lucius Graham wouldn't really fit Martin's style. If I remember right he even said in an interview that he thought ,,elves and dwarfs are overdone". Also since there are mammoths in Westeros it wouldn't be far off to assume that also neanderthals survived in this universe.

Elves are the Valerians though... And besides the fit the same look as dwarves and even carry axes! Neanderthal bones were just human bones that had a disease that wasted away the bones making the person short. Just a hoax to find the missing link.

Dustin They could also be Men of Lossarnach if we follow that logic. But there are other things that indicate that they may be inspired by Dwarves. The inlanders are underground living, live of mining amongst many things. This is a clear refference to the typical dwarven race. Now the coastal Ibennese are seafayers. Also in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, there is a non-playable race called Dverga (I think it is a Nordic word for dwarf, or something like that). They are seafares. They live on an island and they are also distrustfull of strangers. Also the Ibbenese habe conquered and slaughtered the Ifequeveron. Ifequeveron are probably CoF living in Essos. The Ifequeverpn seem quite wood elf-like, something like wild elves. Extreme reverence of nature and so on. That is a clear refference to the dwarf-elf conflicts in other fantasy books. So yeah they could be inspired by dwarves. But INSPIRED. They also seem to be higher than dwarves.

@@oscarmontesan0 If Dothraki is anything like the Central Asian nomads i know and if you wish to break them,you gotta change their religion.Tengrism and Steppe culture was the driving force behind the invasions of nomads from Central Asia.Nomads were searching for better pastures pressed by the changing climate and supported by their culture and religion,they saw it fit to seize those pastures from their former owners with force.So if someone somehow can infect the Dothraki society with lets say,the religion of Rhlor or the Seven Andal Gods,they can go forward from that to change the entire culture.Once they assimilated the Dothraki enough for them to willingly settle down,instead of roaming around,it will be all over.Dothraki will start losing their national identity alongside their religion which should have been eliminated or reduced to an insignificant amount of followers at this point.After their assimilation it will be easier to destroy the Dothraki threat.So yeah,Dothraki can be wiped out,but it wont be that easy,you gotta destroy their religion and somehow assimilate them before wiping them out.

Larger brains do not mean they were more intelligent .

Neanderthals were smarter than most people think and yes most Europeans are about 2% neanderthals.They were also just as sophisticated as early humans , but while humans tamed dogs and built more advanced long ranged weapons neanderthals lived as they had for tens of thousands of years . Humans were also more adaptable than neanderthals who fated away in the face of climate change or were absorbed by our ancestors .

+OtherWorlds AllWorlds The reason for the lack of development in sub-Saharan Africa was the lack of crops and livestock. Without those you can't develop civilization. Around the year 1000 AD crops were introduced and ancient civilization type cities started to form. However they were already way too far behind. Another thing that hurt them was their isolation. In Eurasia civilizations copied each others best attributes which led to a steady improvement. Sub Saharan Africa was cut off from the civilizations. The Native Americans had the same problem though to a lesser extent. They did have crops but no real livestock. Lama's aren't useful as working animals in comparison to horses. They also were more isolated from each other which slowed development down. However without the plagues the Inca empire would have been a very formidable foe to the Spanish and the Aztecs almost beat them in open combat.

The Others are described as pretty elfish in the books

Valyrians seem more like high elves/moon elves, while children of the forest are more like the regular wood elves.

I like to think of Valyrians as the ASOIAF-equivalent of Numenoreans in LOTR, an advanced race that also got wiped out.

The Ibbenese are clearly based on neatherthals. They have all the features except the longer arms. The Woodwalkers weren't really native Americans. Tribes like that existed all over Europe as well even into the middle ages. Most of them were converted by missionaries.
