He gave proof and asked for him to stay he declined and the manager even said they’ll give him a promotion and he declined. He was confused as to why he wouldn’t get the promotion when he did his best but when he left he got offered the promotion. He is now happier with the new job Edit: wow thanks for the likes 😭

I had a very similar situation with my old job, only that I had been working there for over 3 years and I wanted a promotion because of my hard work and being able to work at basically any time. They told me I was too young and they wanted experienced people. Only after finding a better job offer they pulled every trick in the book to keep me. At that point I was no longer interested in staying and left for what is now my current job. Safe to say I’m happy I left. Bosses don’t care about their employees and don’t value them until they want to leave and then they will beg people to stay.

Even though others might not like it I personally love the cake, it has a really doodle-y vibe and was really cool!

My mom in IT is a Project Manager for Pearson. I understand shit about her job. But I know, that she’s been working with them for 7-8 years and the only reason she hasn’t left is because she gets to work at home. Idk what definition of promotion we are using. She started from the bottom up, but whenever she got to manager which she’s been for years, they haven’t offered her a pay raise. The market is so competitive and backwards honestly. They’ll David younger employees because they’ll take as little pay as they can get over highly skilled workers who have been in service for a long time. Makes picking me up so much easier. Otherwise she’s have to go to Hoboken everyday by catching 2 trains and walking. She’d get back late at night and exhausted. She is the strongest person I know (many there but I’m so inspired by her). Like she worked her literal ass off to give me a life. I have a lot of issues that she isn’t the best at addressing (ik no one is perfect), but she cares. She knows her advice can sound heartless at times but that’s how life is. I don’t know how she’s still alive. She works herself to the bone and gives everything to everyone (to the point of being a doormat and doing nothing for herself). I wish I could do more for her. I’m tryna manage my emotions without burdening her (her advice comes from generation trauma as immigrants where in the past mental health cannot equal not doing work). So procrastination doesn’t exist in her brain. Despite the fact she had bad postpartum depression after losing multiple kids during birth. I know she says it for my benefit, but our communication is not great. She doesn’t understand the pain I hide for her. My mom has been scammed out of $10k+ from family, we’ve been kicked out of family homes, life is shit rn but we’re trying. Makes sense why I have High Functioning Depression and a shit ton of anxiety, and much more undiagnosed stuff. She’s tryna find me a therapist. My parents need one too. Lots of family issues. Sorry this got off track. But what I’m saying is, I wouldn’t expect a promotion in under a year. Depends on the field, but in general, no one can just demand getting promoted in such a short time. (I read a comment explaining things, workplace environment is toxic af). The field she works in. If you work at home, they expect you to be working 24/7. Just cuz ure at home, you don’t have a life. Yes I makes things easier, but she has a house and me to take care of (you can see why I try my best to not bother her, she has a lot on her plate, in a few weeks she has to go to California for a few days for office after a lot of traveling for family emergencies (elderly health, haven’t visited my country for fun for past 3 years. Everyone’s on the brink of death I swear). I’m so lost I want to help her but she bottles up her emotions. I’ve seen her breakdown and I try to take care for her because she doesn’t get much time for me. Ik it’s the quality not the amt that counts, but ik im not selfish for wanting more. Everyone goes through difficulties. But there are some things I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I’m so grateful for all I have. It’s just…..everything is very difficult rn for me, 15 year old. Pls just hope that things can get better for everyone.

I left a gig that did this. I was getting a raise at 14 months but my buddy who started at the same time as me and was putting the same level of work in, maybe more. I refused the raise and shocked about everyone in the office, when I told them my reasoning I was let go for causing unnecessary drama. They tried giving the raise to my buddy next, and he did the same thing and left shortly thereafter.

My former supervisor was mad I didn't put her down as a reference. Because I didn't trust her to not disued the new employer. She made up the worst excuses to not promote me, like my current job not requiring all the work of my applied to position, so despite my degree, years with another employer for the applied to position, and working below my qualifications, she didnt have proof I understood the full job. Only to hire someone from a completely different section, no experience with our case types and no degree, from the same position i was working, that they spent like 4 months training up on even the basics of what we did. And gave me like double the work of my peers but treated me like a novice all the time. Everyone but two people I worked closely with gave me the cold shoulder when I left. A job that they were always throwing parties. I'm still not paid what I think I should be, but I'm not patronized and overworked like I was and feeling like people hate me for... I honestly don't know without saying discrimination. I did my job and was used to cover others beyond reasonsbility, hoping they'd promote me and stop treating me as a pee-on, only being mistreated more. And they wonder why some workers become less engaged.
