A memory of active Sunday's
At a certain time years ago. Sunday was never
seen as a day of rest. Almost everybody around
you had avoided sleep. The night before at times
the night before that as well. Yet it was filled with an
excited kind of energy. Like something special was
going to happen. Nobody knew exactly when or what
it was. But a section of UK society where taking no
risk of missing it. The UK's Northern Soul scene could
have held an event on the moon. There would have been
people waiting to get in it. Before Wigan Casino was open
the Twisted Wheel, the Golden Torch, and various other clubs
cattered for the need. But since the Casino closed in 1981,
no other club or cult following. Has matched the magnitude of
success created then. People would travel long distances to
get to a certain venue. Leave it the next morning travel long
distances to another. F inally late Sunday night think about going
home. Which would never even be mentioned in Station Road on
a freezing cold January morning. The conversation was totally
what was on, and who was going where. Mentioning going home
just never happened. This upload I dedicate to the people far too
many to mention. That like me was lucky enough to be included in
that time. Nothing since has matched the devotion the people had
then. In my honest opinion nothing ever will. Only the people there
at the time. Will understand the special feeling it had, to them I say
thank you for being there to create it.
