I admire his command of audience energy; it's bloody remarkable that the machine didn't chew that presence out of him by so unabashedly taking advantage of him. His humility makes more sense now, for sure, anyway!

You could hear his throat dry up trying to recall the painful memories of his life. Those so called adults at the radio station were inexcusably vicious and pathetic. Scott was a real man though.

Sounds like entertainment industry to me. I'm surprised people like Pete decide to stay within the industry despite the experience. It's not that there isn't good people in the industry, but alot of them leaves for similar stories.

I have a similar story to him with my first real job when I was 16. My assistant manager would often close the store 30 minutes or so early (he definitely wasn't supposed to) and one day my friend called the store and said he'd be there around 30 minutes before the store closed to buy something and I told him it's all good. Well, when I told my manager that, he still went ahead and closed the shop early and my friend arrived at the locked door and was like WTF? I told my boss, "Let me just ring him up real quick and we'll be good." Well, he was all mad but ended up opening the door for him and letting him buy it. Then when my friend left, the assistant manager screamed and cussed at me calling me all kinds of names and made me feel HORRIBLE despite him being in the wrong! But what's even more screwed up is that I told the main manager and owner what happened and THEY LET THE GUY STAY THERE! They just gave him a slight reprimand. So I refused to work with him anymore and ended up quitting a few months later. It made me extremely depressed because as a kid, I took everything very personally and was never taught to stand up for myself against adults (mostly "raised" by my mom). But because of that experience, I finally realized there really are just bad people out there and that I shouldn't let them treat me that way. So in any situation after that, I would not allow anyone to abuse me like that and wouldn't let myself get depressed about it (I would just get mad at them instead).
