An antidote to modern attention deficit filming styles. I love the long tracking shots lingering on riders, the action. The music and near silence of road noise over the pavé makes me feel in the head of a rider, the isolation of pain and determination. The romance, the brutality of this race is totally unique and one of the epic traditions that make cycle racing so special.

I was just thinking about this race. A friend and i biked from Amsterdam to Roubaix to watch the race. We're both 🇺🇸. 2017 just retired, life changing tour. Bucket list is complete 😊 Boonen's last shot at 5 wins.

Best cycling documentary ever made. Slow burner perhaps for some with low attention span....but well worth a few minutes of anyone’s day. Amazing film work,atmospheric,wonderful race footage. A masterpiece. I was road racing during the early 1970’s. These riders featured legends.

1976 was my first year competing in UCI races. Races like P-R inspired me. I never raced in Europe, but, when some of the racers came to America, I tried as hard as i could to beat them across the line.

Think I've watched this classic (in more than one sense) movie about ten times through the years passing by. Though I by far prefer Jørgen Leths own speaking in Danish, which brings a lyrical dimension hard to explain, but what makes the movie a pure masterpiece. And Danish title 'En Forårsdag i Helvede' meaning 'A Spring Day in Hell', but pronounced in Danish brings a special contradiction between the words making the titel somewhat magical. That was my first impression of the title as a teen in mid 1980ies. But ofcourse, in English 'A Sunday in Hell' is more catchy in pronouncement when selling the title, but the special interaction in between the words is lost.

There are classic car competitions where people rally old peugeots or fiats... why the hell aren't there classic bike competitions? There should be pros on heavy classic steel bikes hoofing it on the same roads. The Japanese still do it with njs races!
