I am a 72-year-old daughter of a pedophile. Your story touched my soul. I am trying to write my own story but it is so painful. My parents are both gone now and I do NOT miss them. I have so much to say, but don't know where to start. Thank you for being so courageous. And all those people who told you that you were beautiful, they were not lying. God bless you Keisha. 🦋

Roshonda Catchings contact them and find out. Did any of the other info seem relatable. Ie. She said her mother had schizophrenia. Do you recall having an aunt or another relative with this mental illness. She never said if her daughter who was raised by the father was given her last name or the father. Were you raised by your father. Definitely, contact to see if there’ an relationship.

I see it as a strength not a disability. Professionals wanted me to hurry up n get a s.s check smh but I never wanted tht. I wanted to find a job on my own n they ain't feel like waiting on that llllooonng process. It took me 6 years to get employed. I knew I had the potential.

We blame society who is trying to cope with the strain of the families who have failed these children. These kids would never have been in the system had their families not failed them. We just give a pass to the family and just skip to blaming everybody else. The system is trying, but it is definitely lacking.

I could never forgive someone who is not sorry for what they did. Letting go of resentment is not the same thing as forgiving the perpetrator or the enabler. Letting go of resentment, to me, is simply acknowledging the fact that people who do bad things will always be around, and that it wasn't my fault they chose to do evil things and happened to target me; that, no matter what they did, no matter how maliciously the act was inflicted upon me, they have no real power over me, the way I think about myself or my life. You can only ever forgive someone who's truly sorry of what they did and who'd never do it again.

@It’s Amor’e and Dj Show Exactly my point: what people call forgiveness is actually letting go, which you do for yourself and not necessarily for the person who wronged you. You can't control their actions or their sorrow, but you can control how you much you allow what they did to you affect your day-to-day life.

What a moving story. If you ever read this Keisha know that there is no shame in the position you found yourself simply trying to survive when the odds had been stacked against you all your life, and what you have gone on to achieve is really quite amazing. Same story here praying for you my sister in Christ I never thought I would be able to overcome all of the dark horrible obstacles that I've been doing it since childhood until my 37 years of age it was just within the last two years I found my way back to God and have been working through each and every memory that I ran from it was afraid of and became a drug addict for a fear of confronting would have happened during my past because I didn't want to hurt anyone else and my mother didn't acknowledge it no one was acknowledging it so I was talked to Barry yet until I just vomited them all over the place and they crept up on me and consumed my whole life for a while there I was just existing and not living until I Surrender it all my will to God pray for me as I am still accepting all of the dissection of relationships and the conditioning of my mind that was put on me during childhood I commend you it takes a strong woman with the faith of God to be able to speak out about this I still have trouble speaking out about what myself and my seven siblings endured. Mets God bless and keep you all the days through in Jesus name amen all the glory belongs to the father

Keisha, from the first moment I saw you I saw a beautiful girl (I’m old enough to be your mother.) I was surprised by your story, so different from mine, and yet your story spoke to me and moved me unlike others I’ve heard. I think what resonates for me the most is that you always knew you were a “good” girl and none of that was ever the real you - it wasn’t who you are. It didn’t match your core values. Thank you for having the courage to share your story. You have your whole life still ahead of you. I hope you continue to grow into the woman you were always meant to be. I admire your ability to free yourself and forgive. I wish that I could do that, too.

You can forgive too, DC B. It's a choice. Ask Jesus to help you, and to give your strength. Jesus forgave all the horrible people who whipped him, insulted him and nailed him to the cross. God only forgives our sins, if we forgive others their sins. Everyone needs to get saved. Jesus is God's Son and He loves us SO MUCH! To get saved, confess your sins to Him, ask Him to forgive your sins and to come into your life and save you. Put your faith and trust in Him. Realize that God rose Jesus from the dead, and confess Jesus is Lord with your mouth and believe it in your heart, and you will be saved. Then get baptized. Jesus is coming soon! Never take the Mark into your hand or forehead or you'll go to hell. God will provide supernaturally for you.

It comes from human beings. All over the world. It is shameful and these people deserve to be held accountable for what they have done. But as an Canadian, I can see the way the american system makes it easy for these criminals to operate. Services are so lacking in many states and education of the police is behind everywhere else. People needs social programs for reasons like this, think about the people whose policies allow for these things to happen so easily and often the next time you're going to vote. THEY are the ones who are responsible for things that happen to these girls.

Me too. I’m trying not to be angry at the police but having some in my life I know they are trying to survive each shift and in that lose sight of what they were called to do in the first place: serve and protect. Do we protect our police? Do we empower them to do the work needed? Or do we simply give them more weapons and say clean up our streets when it’s not their job; they are to protect us from the streets. Like everything, follow the money and we’ll likely see who (local gov’ts and land developers and special interest groups and lobbyists and psychopaths ) are the ones responsible.

This wonderful woman was let down over and over again by everyone who should have looked out for her. The only person who isn't to blame is her mother who couldn't help being ill. And still she has such grace and strength of character to escape her situation and grow into the thoughtful, mature person we see here. I'm sure it was a long and difficult journey to reach that point... if only there was proper funding for social services, proper training for police, a functioning system to protect and care for children and vulnerable people. So many people like her deserved better.

Thank you for sharing your story. So empowering. I am so glad that you got to a healthy place of acceptance and finding options and choices. The resentment that comes with hatred can consume. You are now showing other's how to forgive, which does not mean you agree with what happened, it means you finally set your heart free from hatred. I am so proud! I don't know you but I am so proud that you could get to this point and now help others. Beautiful!
