Two Downy Birch (Betula pubescens) bonsai trees. One small,one large. Both need similar work to further their progress. Two trees, one video two playlists.

Thanks for this vid! I acquired a group of birch earlier this year and as there doesn't appear to be much on the interwebs about birches, this is most welcome. Especially the pruning aspect. I'd read that they'll die back rather dramatically, so it's good to know that I can prune fairly aggressively. Thanks Sid, always enjoy your take Cheers!

You're welcome. Die back on birch is no better or worse than most other species in my experience. Certainly not as bad as Japanese Maples for example. The do have thin bark which scars easily when wiring. Stay safe

I love Birch Bonsai and i find wire and birch don't mix as they scar very easily if you do not keep a good eye on them.

Very true. Fortunately they ate such good growers that they can grow out the scars quickly if they are not too deep. Stay safe

Lovely trees Sid, I have about 4 myself (as twigs in pots) and still not sure what to try...but as I see your video's about them I just might develop an idea, so yeah, Thank you! 💖👍😊💖🐾🐾

They won't stay twigs for long. They grow fast.🌳💕

In bonsai certainly. I love silver birch bonsai, you’re right they grow like weeds and very vigorous. I bought a weeping one off of Mr. Harrington a couple of years ago. It’s come on strides since then. I have others I’ve grown from seedlings and starting to turn white now. Exciting trees definitely.
