A full Let's Play RimWorld Ideology 1.3 playthrough with the Transhumanist meme. This is played on the hardest difficulty, Losing is Fun, bumped up to 500%, against Cassandra, and not using pause or mods (aside from the mod that makes it so I can't pause etc).

This playthrough was recorded LIVE on Twitch. As such, Adam is speaking with chat throughout. Videos without chat will be listed as 'KZfaq Exclusive'. This is the ENTIRE playthrough, so there will be some episodes in which not much happens, that's just the nature of unedited RimWorld.
*No Pause - Adam is using a mod that disables pause in every portion of the game. This means it is impossible for him to pause with a key press and the game will not pause during events or trade, making things much more difficult.
** Losing is Fun set to +500% is the hardest difficulty in unmodded RimWorld
***Cassandra Classic is the most consistently difficult storyteller, but is more predictable than Randy Random and cannot be as hard as him if you get bad Randy RNG.
**** Lost Tribe is a scenario in which you begin with 5 tribals, some supplies, and 3 random pets. This scenario has very slow research by default.

Great handling of that mech breach raid. Maybe you should have your pawns dye their clothing to color code them for psycasts.

re: slave traders I have literally not seen a single slave trader since around the time Royalty came out. Not a single one in 6-7 loooong runs. I guess Randy figures since he doesn't ambush me all the time I won't be looking for replacements...

Yeah, they have gotten more and more rare it seems. In the playthrough after this one I didn't see a single one, even early game with a single colonist.

One exploit that I found against mech breachers is to kill the termite and to wall raise to fill up the first breached spot in your wall. The rest of the mechs will always go to your killbox after this happens. (If the killbox is closed, they will just chill around on the map until there’s an opening) I was trying to use wall raise to separate them into small groups and chain stun them but I found out this lol

That's interesting about wall raise breaking their breaching AI as long as the termite is gone. I'll have to try it out sometime.

During the 3:06:08 tribal raid there's an interesting thing going on in the kill tunnel. Instead of queuing up as normal, the tribals on the right side are cutting in front of those stuck between the trees on the left. I wonder if this is the result of having the trees in there, and if you could exploit it. Theoretically some slower pawns (maybe injured or not on drugs) would get in before faster pawns if that's consistent behavior.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. I do think it is the trees causing it. Apparently trees keep units slowed some even if they move from tree tile to tree tile. More testing will have to be done. :P

I'm new to Rimworld, and I've been thoroughly enjoying your playthroughs! I watched the Melee only challenge and got invested in some of the pawn stories. :) Hysteric was memorable, but I also felt for Vampiro for some reason (the millionaire doc who was ambushed twice on the same caravan) and felt sad when Germ and Plankbox died basically alone in their mini colony after they lost all their friends and family in the main colony. It was also sad to see Squid break down after his wife died and get kidnapped; he was so crucial to the end game. And I kept hoping you'd be able to rescue the three that were abandoned after the scythers, but I guess they were truly gone. Poor Hairball who couldn't walk; I wonder whatever happened to him, watching all of that happen but unable to move. I guess he finally starved to death. I'm glad one of the original colonist's brother got away, at least! And it kinda seemed fitting that Yoni just went wild and returned to nature. They were satisfying moments after a brutal end game. Anyway, I was thinking the same thing (2:33:00) about JLiette, how it seems like he hasn't once gotten hurt yet, and now I'm worried that he'll get one-shot or something in the next episode! It would be kinda cool but I guess totally against the cruel fates of Rimworld, especially on the difficulty you play, if he led a charmed life and never got seriously injured or killed during this playthrough. I don't know how you do it when a pawn dies. I get super attached to my pawns when I see some of their personal stories play out, some more than others. Usually the ones I send into the most danger because I can trust them to do something well, are the ones I care about the most. D: Do you still care for some of the pawns, even when you have massive colonies? If you do, is it more about how useful they are, or is there something in their personalities or stories that you get attached to? (Sorry to ramble!)

Thanks for the comment! I do appreciate comments and conversation in general, so no need to be sorry about 'rambling' :P. Yeah, a lot of the stories in the Melee run were crazy. I keep telling people that the melee run is probably my favorite RimWorld run but that I will never do it again lol. As far as getting attached to pawns in big colonies, I find it does happen but to less of a degree than in smaller colonies. This is both because of losing utility within the colony and due to their 'story' (though they don't always have one). Generally the worst feeling is losing a pawn that has been with me for a long time, especially one of the starters (or someone from the first year in general).

@@AdamVsEverything Thank you so much, again! I'm glad my rambling isn't too bothersome. :) That melee playthrough was amazing. I feel like so many people would have quit after you lost the first colony; I'm so glad you kept going. What a feeling that must have been, to finally see the end credits. I just finally finished a playthrough for the first time recently. Nothing as dramatic or difficult as yours, but I was so proud of them. A couple of the later colonists I felt neutral towards, but it was a small enough colony (12) that everyone had some personal story unfolding, and it was so engaging to watch. I've been surprised by some random joins and recruits sometimes, too; a few of them have ended up being some of my favorite colonists. My last* recruit in that colony was the sole survivor of what ended up being the last human raid I had for the colony (before the ship countdown); his father died in the raid and he spent like half a year dealing with that grief, barely interacting with anyone else. His social tab was the saddest thing: his only friend was his father (who was dead and had no opinion). He just felt so isolated. I agonized through a whole year of trying to put him in situations to interact with other colonists and try to make friends. He finally did make friends and even married. I never saw that story coming. I love how Rimworld can do that to you, how some things are out of your control as a player in agonizing but also strangely rewarding ways. *Well, technically, he wasn't my last. There was a tough teenage brawler in one of the ship countdown raids who just refused to go down to my three melee pawns and he lost all his family in the raid, and I liked his spirit so much that I rebuilt part of the ship just so I could add a cryptosleep casket for him so he could escape with the rest of them. Worth it!

Termites v. doors Yeah, it's strange that termites don't destroy doors, since they have lower HP. Many words have been spent in these comments about breach-raid-weirdness, but that feature is truly weird. Personally I think it should just be "X damage to all structures," like grenades.

Yeah, it is weird. In the code it's just an x4 against walls specifically instead of structures. Wouldn't doubt that they change it.

At Masterwork quality, the heavy smg can 1-shot most organs but the AR cannot. The heavy smg can 2-shot limbs but the AR cannot. At Legendary quality, the heavy smg can kill with 1 mitigated brain shot, while the AR can only down the pawn.

There's always a lot to factor in as well, including play style. The AR will always be better at kiting, for instance. You can actually kite a centipede forever without getting hit (with ARs). That is why when people ask I generally try to answer with 'it depends' :P.

To me lancers are the most dangerous mechs because they are so numerous and can blow off limbs in one shot like what happened to Goose.

All the mechs are definitely dangerous in their own way. I've probably lost more people to flame centipedes than anything else in the game.

Adamm how u do to riders ignore the geotermals? like, everytime i craft one, they just focus its buildingand then destroy it ;_; your riders just ignores it . (sorry for mt bad english, i love your streams)

Regular raiders shouldn't go after structures (buildings/walls) if they have a path to your people/bedrooms. If your doors are closed when they appear on the map they'll target structures, however, which might be geos because they tend to be closer to the raid spawn points. Even breachers should prefer walls that separate them from the bedrooms instead of geos.

Looks like the others already have you covered. But, like they said, as long as the geothermal is surrounded by a wall and you have an opening into your base, normal raids will not target them.

I am new to the channel. Loved your gaming and approach to the game.I live in complete opposite time zone so cant participate in streams that is why i ll ask my question here. Against mechs you use emp graneder in the corner why not emp launcher is it less effective?

No worries! EMP launcher is less accurate and has a much longer re-fire time. In addition to this the AOE effect is smaller. Due to this combination, it is much less reliable at hitting a specific area (such as the entrance to the kill area). - Thanks for watching!

For clusters I just call in like bulk good traders from the empire/outlanders and hope they fight it’s more effective

The only downside is that the vendors won't actually travel to seek out the cluster, so may miss it entirely and not fight it at all.
