A Third Signal Head Added For All Directions at Victoria Park Ave & Lawrence Ave E in Toronto!

This is the intersection of Victoria Park Ave & Lawrence Ave E in Toronto, Ontario.

This intersection just got a third signal head for each direction! There used to be two signal heads. One 3-section on the right, and a 4-section on the median. Now, there is a 4-section on the left as well! Each 4-section displays a leading protected/permissive left turn phase! I am very pleased with there being a 4-section signal on the median and left for 2 reasons:
- If the arrow isn't working on one of the signals, there is still another signal for the same direction that displays the arrow.
- Having a 4-section on the median and left side, makes it easier for pedestrians to see the green arrow; It's mounted more in front of the pedestrians view, so pedestrians can see more clearly when they have the right of way, or when left turns have the right of way.

Awesome! This kind is easier to see, and drivers seem to be more responsive earlier during the left-turn part of the cycle, and through-traffic is clearer about having to stay put but get ready soon.

We always have a second arrow for redundancy in Nova Scotia. Glad to see you guys are doing this more!

we have them everywhere in Ottawa, it's actually quite rare over here to find an intersection that has 4-section signal heads to not also have a third signal on the far left

I never knew they updated the specifications! I've seen some intersections such as Highway 27 & Finch Ave, Highway 27 & Humber College Blvd, where they just installed the permanent signals this month, after years of construction. They only installed one signal per direction that displays the green arrow. Most intersections that I see being reconstructed or redesigned have 2 signal heads that display the green arrow. I've seen the green arrow not working before for the northbound median signal at Don Mills & Eglinton. There isn't a second signal head that has a left green arrow there, and people were so confused.

Doesn't do any good if the left turn only lasts 2 seconds. WTF they need detectors.

They do have detectors here. I agree tho. It needs to be longer here.

As construction is still going on here, the lights are probably on recall. Wavetronix sensors may be installed at a future date.

@@kelv3157 Except for the eastbound left turn green arrow for one cycle only, I saw the green arrow was coming on every cycle without knowing how many people were actually waiting in the left turn lane. I hope they activate detection here! They probably will soon.
