an excellant start. PrivateLime did a series, and he was struggling to find grass, having tons of issues with bears, and you found two spots of clay right away! you're set up to be the Ice Queen by comparison! crucible, cooking pot, and bowls! also I don't recal his ruins ever having soil. you MIGHT see if you can't get a greenhouse going with glacier ice, maaaaybe you could grow crops? if so...porridge would be good food! oh! and maybe it'd be enough to lure rabbits?

The ruins normally spawn both regular and bony soil underneath them, I don't remember if he explored them that deeply - I know he found dirt in some vessels. He also started with a snowball earth mode, which is new in 1.18, and finding an oasis with that seems to be pretty difficult if not impossible. Those new artic vessels are awesome for the resources lacking in the North! Thank you for watching!

I agree with the bear spawn rates are kind of broken it needs to be cut at least in half

@@PyrrhP in 1.18 I use the less bears mod and it halves their spawn rate,I belive it's a must have.

Alas I have not done my Episode 0 yet. But the main difference is that I did NOT select the new Snowball Earth setting. That covers the entire map in snow blocks, precluding the idea that you can head any direction to find soil or an oasis. I'm guessing that is primarily for creative purposes. You'd be entirely reliant on ruins. I think I will try a snowball earth with Better Ruins and Primitive Survival, that could be lots of fun. But this one is vanilla. :)

For the most part, yes, unless I cover old ground or am grinding, then I tend to either speed through or fade.

You should try an episode or two to find out. It isn't just a longplay - I actually chat and do stuff. :D It isn't just highlights, though, if that is what you're looking for.
