Huge amount of variety! It may be hydrogen peroxide is a slight replacement for phosphate.... If your tomato plants are trying to grow in 90-plus temperatures .then you got an excuse for how crappy your garden looks. Maybe you should invest in blocking out direct sunlight. Are you a dumbass?

Hey Gary. Well you can talk about Hydro Peroxide all you want. Because of your first experiments and myself starting to use it, this has given me a weapon against blight, powdery mildew, bean mosaic virus and leaf spot here in the Deep South of Bama. I take rides around the neighborhoods and then in the country, mostly to see what others are doing garden wise. I will tell you that of end of July, all tomatoes are dead and gone. For the most part only a hand full of gardeners are continuing to grow through our extreme heat and humidity this time of the year. I have always grown through the summer, its always been a struggle till this year using the Hydrogen Peroxide. Now I am only growing three varieties of tomatoes this year. I have Patio container tomatoes in my South garden bed, they are an determinant and should be finished and gone by now. They are continuing to grow and have new growth and blossoms coming on, this is unheard of for this variety. My Goliath tomatoes are nice and green,plenty of new growth and setting more tomatoes. I always plant Celebrity tomatoes since I grow to eat and they are looking great and constantly setting tomatoes. I have cucumbers that have grown to the top of the roof of my home, constantly producing and were planted the first week of June, my other cucumber planting on the north side of the house are 10 feet and loaded with fruits and blossoms. They had powdery mildew, but the Hydrogen Peroxide killed it off, yes the leaves show some damage, but the plants are putting out new growth and I have more cucumbers then I could possibly eat and its the end of August. The summer squash I put in the first week of June is still producing, yes it got powdery mildew here the last few weeks. I sprayed it with Hydrogen Peroxide, trimmed off the worse leaves and they are loaded with new yellow crookneck squash. The same goes for my Waltham Butternut squash and Cantaloupes. Not to mention my Rattlesnake pole beans, which in most gardens are also dead and gone. Mine are still growing, putting on new growth and blossoms and loaded with beans. Because of you I now have an effective weapon against the diseases, fungus and viruses that kill off the plants this time of year. Far to many garden channels and websites demonize Hybrid varieties, which as you have said are not GMO. They are varieties that have come from selected cross pollination between two varieties to promote a desired trait, such as disease resistance. Some have come about due to uncontrolled cross pollination and because they were unique they were developed further. In fact most of what we call Heirlooms today were Hybrids at some time in the past. These people who continue to bad talk Hybrids should just plant the original variety of tomatoes, corn or whatever, they would not like the result to be sure. As in Corn, corn is a grass, the original variety only made a small cob like a nubbin. Many heirlooms have good flavor but could not survive shipping and were prone to disease. Without the advent of Hybrids more than half of the population would of starved way before now. Yes you can not save hybrid seeds. But in years to come, some hybrids will become stable, just as the varieties we call Heirlooms now. I am old enough to have seen this come to past, but most here on KZfaq are not. Thanks again for your work in your garden and sharing it with us, as always take care, stay safe and God Bless you. Oh and if anyone doubts my claims in my comments. Well you can just go to my channel, Deep South Bama with Mr. Tom. I started it for my on personal documentation of what I am doing here restoring my old home place and for my Grandson who gets a kick watching Grand Pa. Cya all later.

So glad it helps. This is the kind of comment that really helps others... so thanks. We are all in different zones and deal with different issues. And you are right from the 40's on the hybrids were often stabilized and we call them heirlooms. Hybrids and GMOS are often confused. I wish people would understand that. There is 100% for sure no GMO seeds in the $2 packs we buy. You just pay extra for No GMO label. Great idea to document the restoration and always wonderful to pass gardening down to grandkids.

@@THERUSTEDGARDEN quick couple of questions and umm 🤔☝️💬 they won't get lost in the spam somewhere: I have a few 🍅 plants I am trying to grow but I don't know if the main problem is: using new soil,not enough or two much water,not enough UVB/or Natural sunlight. I understand that all plants have hmm "symbiotic feeling" knowing where their happy spot is. So my secondary question is what is the amounts of nutrients I need? Does it depend on what stage my plant is or other contributing factors?

You have reason to be excited, your garden looks happy! I am getting another round of roma tomatoes here as well in north east Kansas. I haven't sprayed anything but August brought much needed rain and a break in the ferocious heat this year, so my plants seem to be responding positively. The first round of romas did have blossom end rot, I've been wondering if adding calcium would help, I will try; I only had blossom end rot on these and a few fruits from one other paste type tomato. I have been trying to figure out if it is due to the shape of the fruits. Interesting stuff.

Thank you for all the work you do on your channel. My husband is complaining about the tomatoes taking over the counters in the kitchen. I say better too much than not enough, though I'll plan differently next year. My question is this: I have all indeterminate varietes. I didn't prune at all, so had a lot of fruit on the plants growing at once and they stopped flowering until the existing tomatoes ripened and I picked a lot of them...and now they are starting to flower again. Is that normal? Like indeterminate tomatoes actually do flushes? Rain, sun, and temperatures have all been perfect, though I didn't do any fertilizing after I planted in the ground (though I put a ton of feed in the planting hole).

Sauce is always just a mix. I do like mixing in orange tomatoes for sweetness. Salsa I again mix it up. No favorite. But I do like mixing sweet and acidic tomatoes together. I just make them as the tomatoes are available so that is always changing variety wise.

Can you, or anyone else in the comments, recommend a good variety for someone who prefers a more acidic tasting tomato? I grew an unknown variety last year (some big boy hybrid, I'm guessing) that was amazing in that regard. The flavour was rich and acidic and I really prefer them over the sweeter types. I'm growing romas, midnight snack, and early girl this year and they're just not quite hitting the spot (but still super delicious). Thanks in advance!

I live in zone 7a in northeast Alabama. Last year I fought this fungus/disease stuff all summer. It gets so hot and humid here and I was just wondering what varieties you would suggest? I grew early girls, big beef, Rutgers, and sweet 100s the last year. The sweet 100s did the best and the early girls did pretty well also until it started getting really hot.

Homestead is a good one but we are humid here too. 90 and 100%. I found hydrogen peroxide sprays controls a lot of issues. Check out my videos on it. Key words Tomatoes and Hydrogen Peroxide. Always test spray and check for damage but I think the ratio is like 6 water to 1 h202. Game changer. If anyone knows the answer please chime in with information. Can you save seeds from a plant that has leaf spot or early blight? Thanks for a marvelous video.
@THERUSTEDGARDEN
@THERUSTEDGARDEN 6 жыл бұрын
You can. Those diseases float in the air and will come back. When you save seeds you ferment them. That kills problems. Plus you can spray h202 on seeds if you wanted to sterilize them. Spot and Blight or fungi, not viral.

@@lookingglassmimzy people that have given you advice are wrong or Connie and capitalism pigs! Blight and everything else is not a disease. Unless your dog is been pissing on the plants! Your seeds would be just fine. The hard part is saving them until the next year. Just plant a hell of a lot of them. Get their root system going and they will separate when they're little and survive very well!

This has me thinking about spraying hypochlorous acid and/or aqueous ozone to control disease. A quick search shows some scholarly studies on both subjects. These are specialized products, but as I have devices for generating both of them because of their immense usefulness in other applications and because once you buy the devices, unlimited amounts of product are free and available on-demand, it's low-hanging fruit for me. I think it won't be long before everyone owns a hypochlorous acid generator. Probably a little longer before everyone owns an aqueous ozone generator, but it too is inevitable.

Nahj they know they are dead and have already moved to healthy leaves and growing new leaves. So the videos have the ratios. But you can really do it as often as you want. Prevention 1x weekly. If it shows on leaves you can actually do it every other day if needed till under control. If you are just using H202 for the first time. Test run the ratio pick on a plant or two and make sure it all goes well. Check out my new Amazon Influencer Shop. Ill be putting what I use in videos there for 2019. It is all set up by categories.
